5. Quincy Guerrier vs Buffalo

Guerrier’s game stats: 27 points (8/13 field goals), 11 rebounds

Guerrier had a lot of double-doubles to choose from, but this was his season and career-high in points. It also gave Syracuse fans their first look at a guy who improved as much as anyone in the country from his freshman to sophomore season.

The game marked Guerrier’s seventh consecutive performance of scoring in double-digits to start the season. However, he really showed all he was worth to help the Orange to an overtime dub.

Guerrier made six of eight shots inside the arc and two of five from outside, showing a tremendous balance in ways to score. The majority of his points came from the free-throw line. A 67% career shooter from the charity stripe, Guerrier knocked down 9-of-12 against Buffalo, another testament to his consistency in this game.

Besides leading the Orange in scoring, Guerrier also led the game in rebounds with 11. He didn’t record any other meaningful stats but did only have one turnover.

Syracuse basketball will miss the tough play of Guerrier, who decided to transfer to Oregon.
