Syracuse basketball 2022 commit Kamari Lands recently fell from five-star to four-star status via ESPN, but his new national ranking from Rivals.com has absolutely soared.

Rivals.com has updated its national ratings of the top-150 prospects within the 2022 cycle, and the 6-foot-8 Lands made one of the biggest jumps throughout the entire class.

Lands, a junior at Prolific Prep in Napa Valley, Calif., climbed a whopping 32 spots to No. 30 overall. He is also listed by Rivals.com as four stars and the No. 14 small forward in the 2022 class.

Hopefully, these new Rivals.com rankings for Lands bring some excitement to the Orange fan base. Lands, a versatile and athletic prospect who can suit up at multiple positions, gave a verbal commitment to Syracuse basketball this past April.

Lands’ verbal pledge should help fuel a big-time 2022 cycle for the ‘Cuse. The team also has brought in 2021 five-star commit Benny Williams, an elite forward out of the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

The 6-foot-8 Williams, rated in the top-20 overall within his class by Rivals.com, has picked up multiple national honors for his performance during his senior season at the IMG Academy.

With Williams and Lands on board, those are two stellar high-school players who have committed to the Orange. It provides some tangible evidence that the squad’s recruiting efforts are trending in a positive direction.

See where else Syracuse basketball commit Kamari Lands is ranked in his class.

When ESPN recently updated its national ratings for the 2022 cycle, it placed Lands as four stars and No. 25 overall. Previously, he was five stars and No. 19 nationally, according to ESPN.

The 247Sports Composite has Lands at No. 36 across the country in the 2022 class, while 247Sports itself arranges him at No. 30 nationwide.

These are really solid rankings for Lands, from my perspective. Plus, his high-school team, Prolific Prep, is expected to be a pre-season top-five to top-10 group nationally heading into the upcoming campaign.

Should Lands excel in his senior term for Prolific Prep, and the team itself contend for a high-school national title, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Lands ultimately ends up as five stars and top-20 overall in the 2022 cycle prior to arriving on the Hill.
