High praise continues to pour in for Syracuse basketball 2023 target Elijah Fisher.

Elijah Fisher, who could become the next star in a growing list of prospects from Canada to suit up for Syracuse basketball, has said in the past that he views himself as the best player out there, regardless of class designation or country.

Some experts in the sport seem to agree, at the very least saying Fisher belongs in the conversation for the top spot in his class. Fisher, a 6-foot-7 wing in the 2023 recruiting cycle, is a five-star prospect who is ranked No. 3 overall by 247Sports. Prep Hoops has Fisher at No. 4 in this class.

Not all recruiting services rate him, because he competes in Canada. Fisher is a sophomore who attends Crestwood Preparatory College in Toronto, Ontario.

Rivals.com has yet to put out its initial national rankings for the 2023 class, although they could come somewhat soon.

Dan McDonald, a writer for Rivals.com, has published a piece where he discusses some “early candidates” to arrive in the No. 1 position within the 2023 cycle.

Among the handful of guys that he includes in this story is Fisher. McDonald writes of the Syracuse basketball target, “Elijah Fisher’s athleticism and physicality as a 6-foot-7 forward, combined with his ball skills, make him a really intriguing prospect long term.”

Syracuse basketball offered elite 2023 wing Elijah Fisher this past July.

Not only could Fisher possibly end up as the No. 1 high-school player in the 2023 class, there’s also chatter on the Internet that he might prove the best prospect to ever come out of Canada. That’s mighty impressive.

Even though his recruitment has a long way to go, Fisher has already acquired close to 20 scholarship offers, from high-majors such as Florida State, Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Memphis, Oregon, Seton Hall, Southern California, St. John’s, Texas A&M and West Virginia.

Some recruiting analysts have also said that it’s feasible the shooting guard/small forward may ultimately head straight from Crestwood Preparatory College to a professional path.

It’s tough to get a read on any possible favorites for Fisher at this juncture, since he’s only a sophomore, but Orange coaches do have a strong track record in building up a terrific pipeline from Canada to the Hill.

In the 2021 cycle, the ‘Cuse has a commitment from five-star small forward Benny Williams. In 2022, the team is pursuing multiple top-flight players. So if Fisher were to select Syracuse basketball, that could provide the Orange with several stellar recruiting classes in a row.
