Armon Bethea, a 2021 three-star offensive lineman, has eliminated Syracuse football as one of his potential collegiate destinations.

Syracuse football has struggled with inconsistent play and injuries on its offensive line in the 2020 term to date, but the Orange does have reinforcements on the way in next year’s recruiting class, although Armon Bethea won’t prove one of them.

The 6-foot-6, 310-pound offensive guard, who attends Erasmus Hall Campus in Brooklyn, N.Y., recently posted via Twitter a top four of Arizona State, Arkansas, fellow Atlantic Coast Conference member Louisville and Ole Miss.

Bethea, a three-star prospect in the 2021 cycle according to the primary recruiting services, did add in his tweet, “Recruitment still 100% open.” However, my gut tells me that the ‘Cuse is out of the running for him, regardless.

Steve Wiltfong, director of football recruiting for 247Sports, has logged a prediction for Bethea in the direction of Arizona State out of the Pac-12 Conference, and Wiltfong is assigning a “high” confidence level to his projection. Two other experts on the 247Sports Web site have since joined Wiltfong in forecasting Bethea to Arizona State.

Per a review of the main recruiting Web sites, Bethea held scholarship offers from numerous other teams besides his four finalists and the Orange, including squads such as Georgia Tech, Kansas, Maryland, Miami, Pittsburgh and West Virginia. The ‘Cuse offered him in January of 2020, per Bethea’s Twitter page.

Armon Bethea, a 2021 three-star offensive lineman, didn’t include Syracuse football in his recently disclosed top four.

Bethea would have proven a nice addition to the Orange’s group of offensive linemen in the 2021 class. The 247Sports recruiting service places Bethea as the No. 79 offensive guard in this cycle, as well as the No. 6 prospect in the state of New York.

The 247Sports Composite, meanwhile, has him as the No. 1,791 overall player in the 2021 cycle, the No. 91 offensive guard and the No. 10 prospect in New York.

Earlier this month, Syracuse football also missed on 2021 three-star offensive tackle Christopher Adams, who had the ‘Cuse in his final six but elected to head to Old Dominion. Adams is a senior at South Hagerstown High School in Hagerstown, Md.
