Syracuse Basketball: Wishing Dior Johnson a speedy recovery from injury

Syracuse basketball 2022 commit Dior Johnson has a stress fracture in his foot, but the injury is not considered serious, per a report.
We just penned a piece detailing how Syracuse basketball 2022 commit Dior Johnson is deemed “arguably the best playmaker in high school basketball right now,” according to a Rivals.com article, but now it seems that the five-star point guard will have to stay on the sidelines for a few weeks due to a non-serious injury.
Mike Waters of Syracuse.com is reporting that the 6-foot-3 Johnson, a junior at the Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., “has suffered a stress fracture in his foot” that is not considered serious.
Waters’ article, citing Oak Hill Academy head coach Steve Smith, says that Johnson’s foot got placed in a cast on Monday, and the duration of his foot remaining in that cast is expected to amount to three weeks.
"“By pulling him out of practice and putting him in the cast now, we caught it before it became a real problem,” Smith told Waters. “He’s worried that he’ll get rusty, but he thought he was rusty when he got here and he was playing great.”"
Smith added in the Syracuse.com story that Johnson should have the ability to return to action prior to the team’s season-opening game on Oct. 27. Of course, all of us ‘Cuse fans out there are wishing Johnson well in his recovery.
Johnson, a native of Saugerties, N.Y., committed to Syracuse basketball back in February, and, earlier this year, he transferred to the powerhouse prep-school program Oak Hill Academy from Mayfair High School in Lakewood, Calif.
One of the premier high-school players regardless of class designation, Johnson is currently slotted at No. 3 by 247Sports, No. 4 via Rivals.com, and No. 11 from ESPN.com in the 2022 class. He is weighing a potential reclassification to the 2021 recruiting cycle but has said that he’s presently focused on the upcoming term for Oak Hill Academy.
As it stands at this juncture, Johnson represents the highest-rated recruit for the Orange dating back to Syracuse basketball legend Carmelo Anthony in 2002-03. Anthony guided the ‘Cuse to its only national title in program history during that campaign.
