Syracuse basketball already faces a ridiculous amount of competition for elite 2023 prospect Elijah Fisher.

At the end of July, Syracuse basketball got into the mix for 2023 wing Elijah Fisher, and at present, the number of collegiate suitors for him has ballooned to nearly 20, per a review of the main recruiting services.

The 6-foot-7 shooting guard/small forward is a rising sophomore who attends Crestwood Preparatory College in Toronto, Ontario. Most of the primary recruiting Web sites haven’t put out their individual rankings of players in the 2023 class yet, however, media reports indicate that Fisher is one of the best all-around prospects within this cycle throughout North America.

Despite his recruitment residing in its early stages, scholarship offers doled out to Fisher to date are from the Orange, along with Arizona, Florida, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Memphis, Morgan State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Seton Hall, Southern California, St. John’s, Tennessee State, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Western Kentucky.

By my count, that’s 18 offers at this juncture from a bunch of the top programs across the country. Trust me, many, many offers from other premier squads will arrive for Fisher in the near future.

Syracuse basketball will have to beat out a slew of high-major teams to secure 2023 wing Elijah Fisher.

Besides Fisher, Syracuse basketball has pledged scholarship offers to a pair of additional 2023 prospects, power forward G.G. Jackson from Ridge View High School in Columbia, S.C., and point guard Aden Holloway out of the Covenant Day School in Matthews, N.C.

I don’t expect the ‘Cuse to have a terrific shot at landing Fisher, although Syracuse basketball to its credit has done well recruiting Canadian players in recent years, whether it’s current Orange forward Quincy Guerrier or former guys such as Oshae Brissett, Tyler Ennis and Kris Joseph.

A few months back, Rivals.com national basketball analyst Eric Bossi included Fisher in an article featuring 10 players from the 2023 class who stand out to him. Bossi said that Fisher, among other things, is athletic, has great size and length, can handle the ball well, creates for others, and rebounds proficiently.

It appears that Fisher would make a perfect fit in the ‘Cuse system, but Syracuse basketball fanatics out there probably shouldn’t get their hopes up all that much.
