Syracuse Football: Wes Hoeh commitment bolsters depth on offensive line
By Neil Adler
Wes Hoeh, a 2021 three-star offensive guard, gives Syracuse football its second offensive-line commitment over the past week.
It’s no secret that Syracuse football has dealt with its share of recent struggles on the team’s offensive line, and 2021 three-star offensive guard Wes Hoeh provides welcomed additional depth for the Orange in the future.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Hoeh is a rising senior who attends Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, Ill., a Chicago suburb. He revealed his selection of the ‘Cuse via Twitter.
Hoeh’s verbal commitment to Syracuse comes about a week after the squad got a pledge from three-star offensive tackle Austyn Kauhi, which marked the Orange’s inaugural commitment on the offensive line in the 2021 recruiting cycle.
The ‘Cuse landing the 6-foot-5, 260-pound Kauhi, a rising senior at Kamehameha Schools Kapālama High School in Honolulu, and Hoeh is important for obvious reasons.
Syracuse’s offensive line needs to significantly improve after a 2019 campaign in which it proved one of the worst groups across all of college football as far as sacks allowed per game.
Syracuse football picked up its second 2021 commitment on the offensive line with three-star Wes Hoeh.
Hoeh, rated as three stars by both 247Sports and Rivals.com, opted for the Orange over 11 other scholarship offers, according to his bios on these recruiting services’ Web sites.
Those offers were from Air Force, Appalachian State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Columbia, Dartmouth, Eastern Illinois, Kent State, Navy, Pennsylvania and Yale.
Overall in the 2021 class, 247Sports places Hoeh as the No. 112 offensive guard, as well as the No. 50 prospect in the state of Illinois.
With Hoeh on board, the ‘Cuse has received a dozen commitments in its 2021 recruiting cycle. As a team, Syracuse is now ranked No. 52 by 247Sports and No. 57 on Rivals.com.
All 12 prospects are rated as three stars on the 247Sports Web site. On Rivals.com, seven of the high-school players are three stars, and the other five commits are two stars. The Orange continues to recruit at a solid level, and Hoeh is the latest example.
