When will Syracuse basketball guard Brycen Goodine return to the court? What’s going on with his broken nose? We have the latest details.
Last week during practice Syracuse basketball freshman guard Brycen Goodine suffered a broken nose.
We got a chance to speak with Goodine for the first time since he suffered the injury after the Notre Dame game in the locker room.
"“I went up for a rebound in practice and Elijah Hughes came down with an elbow to my face.”"
During warm-ups, Goodine was wearing a face mask to protect him, but he seemed super uncomfortable and didn’t end up playing in the 88-87 loss to the Irish on Saturday.
We found out after the game that the face mask that Goodine was wearing in pregame warmups was “just a temporary one” so he could practice.
Although there were a lot of issues with the temporary one. Brycen said he was unable to see the floor due to the extra padding and had no peripheral vision whatsoever.
Due to those problems, earlier this week Brycen Goodine was fitted for a custom mask that should be arriving on Monday, January 6th.
He got it molded to his face on Friday and the entire process took 10 to 20 minutes. Brycen said a specialist put this special material over his face and then it hardened and they removed it. Goodine said that mold was sent to Detroit where it’ll be made and finalized.
Brycen was just coming out of treatment when we spoke to him and he said that he’s in “zero pain” and he’s excited to get the custom mask on Monday so he can get back on the basketball court to help the Orange.
Up next Syracuse will stay in the lovely confines of the Carrier Dome to play against the Virginia Tech Hokies on Tuesday night with tip-off set for 9:00 p.m.
