The Syracuse basketball depth for 2019-20 just took another massive hit with Brycen Goodine injury. Here are all the details and what it means.

Syracuse basketball hasn’t started off 2020 with a lot of great news.

The team has been battling depth issues after a rash of injuries to Jesse Edwards, Howard Washington, and now you can add another name to the list guard Brycen Goodine.

Syracuse.com’s Brent Axe revealed that Goodine suffered a broken nose in practice this week ahead of the Notre Dame game on Saturday.

This news came up in Axe’s weekly interview with coach Jim Boeheim.

What this means for Goodine’s status for Saturday’s game vs the Fighting Irish is uncertain although coach Boeheim said they’ll fit him for a mask and see if he can play through the injury.

This season for Syracuse has been a series of unfortunate events so far with Jalen Carey likely being out for the year with a thumb injury (likely to redshirt), John Bol Ajak (redshirt), Robert Braswell could also receive a medical redshirt (although no decision has been made on that front yet per Brent Axe).

Although there was some good news with both Howard Washington and Jesse Edwards returning to practice this week which is an encouraging sign for them playing on Saturday vs Notre Dame.

Goodine has been disappointing so far this season, he’s played in 10 games and has averaged 1.9 points per game, .8 assists, .8 steals, 1 board, but is shooting a lowly 24 percent from the field and has not converted a long-range attempt yet, per Sports Reference.

Fortunately for the Orange, prior to the season starting Jim Boeheim said that this year’s team “has the best depth he’s had in seven years.” If you’re a Syracuse basketball fan you better hope he’s right because if he isn’t things could get ugly pretty quickly.
