It was an absolute treat to see the Syracuse Orange and their performance on Saturday vs Seattle. Joe Girard has officially been given the keys to the Syracuse offense, and deservingly so. The offense moves faster, has more life, and performs better when Girard is the point guard, even though it’s a very small sample size.

We don’t know what happened behind the scene, but Jim Boeheim appears to be completely done with Jalen Carey. When asked why Carey didn’t play vs Seatlle, Boeheim said: “because we wanted to win”.

I disagree with the way Boeheim is handling this situation in the media, but I can’t blame him for the overall decision. Marek Dolezaj and Elijah Hughes played well offensively as well, which is extremely important. I bring this up because each game, the Orange are going to need different people to step up.

The more players that can be trusted on the offensive end the better, because we know that most nights, Syracuse will be able to rely on their 2-3 to give them a chance to win. The past few years have always been about if the Orange can score enough to win.

As for the Boeheim Bowl (Jimmy Boeheim vs Buddy Boeheim), I like Syracuse’s chances, but Cornell is the type of team I wish the Orange played man to man against. Syracuse has the athletic edge, but a 2-3 is solved by good decisions and good shooting, which are two things that Cornell has done very well in their history.

If the Orange played man to man against Cornell, I think they would win by more because I think it would give Cornell more trouble. However, that won’t happen. I see Cornell giving the Orange a little scare but in the end, Syracuse will prevail and improve to 3-1 on the year.

FINAL SCORE:
Syracuse 79 Cornell 68
