Syracuse Football: Game time, TV, Radio and more vs Holy Cross
By Josh Peelman
Syracuse Football takes on the Holy Cross Crusaders in their fifth game of the season Saturday afternoon. Here’s how you can watch and listen to the game.
Syracuse football rebounded in a nice way last week with a win at home, the first few weeks gave us pause and cause for concern. The Orange won big versus Western Michigan last Saturday but now must not overlook their next opponent: Holy Cross before they enter a bye week.
In Week 1 the Orange pitched a 24-0 shutout at Liberty but looked awful doing so. In Week 2, the Orange got destroyed 63-20 on the road at Maryland, making Orange fans believe all expectations were had for this team could be forgotten.
In Week 3, Syracuse football lost once again, this time at home in front of a sellout crowd in the Dome to No. 1 Clemson 41-6. And then lay week the Orange played well on offense earning a 52-33 score versus Western Michigan. Now the Orange must turn their attention to Holy Cross this weekend, a 1-2 FCS squad from Massachusetts.
There is not much to glean from Holy Cross this year, but one could point out they lost to a pretty lousy squad last week 23-10, according to ESPN.com. their lone win is against New Hampshire which is not saying much. Then again the orange can’t say much better, they’ve beaten only Liberty and Western Michigan, so there’s that.
However, the level of talent of those two teams the Orange have beaten is substantially better than what Holy Cross had even faced so far this year. In other words, this game should not be close.
Just to give you an idea how much the Orange are favored at home, ESPN.com’s matchup predictor had the Orange odds at 97.7%. That’s pretty good odds even if you’re a home team like the Orange.
Hopefully, the Orange can use this is a tune-up game to help correct past mistakes on defense, help quarterback Tommy DeVito develop rhythm and timing with his receiving corps, and build confidence going into ACC play after the bye week.
In other words, if things go as they should, this game should be over early, and that’s okay as it will help build experience and depth for this team later in the year or even next year for some players. Look for the second and third units to get lots of playing time in preparation of injuries or fatigue later in the season.
