Syracuse football is hoping to regroup in time to pull off the upset vs Clemson in Week 3. Here’s the only way they can do it says an ESPN expert.

After the Syracuse football squad surprisingly lost to the Maryland Terrapins in Week 2, a lot of media analysts and fans jumped off the bandwagon.

Despite the massive slip up on the road, the Orange have a massive opportunity in front of them to change their 2019 destiny.

It’s a game that has been widely discussed over the last several months, especially considering the last two matchups in 2017 and 2018 between Syracuse and Clemson.

The Orange are 1-1 and their immediate future is uncertain. While the Tigers are 2-0 and feeling great.

After parsing through the analytics, discussion, and details it seems like there’s only one way for Syracuse to pull off the upset per ESPN broadcaster Sean McDonough who joined The Manchild Show with Boy Green earlier this week on The Score 1260:

"“Syracuse is going to have to keep pace with them because Clemson is going to score a lot of points. It’s a little scary if Maryland put up 63, how many points are the Tigers going to put up? The Orange have to trade blows with Clemson if they want to have much of a chance. The good news is they have the confidence of knowing they can play with this team based on the last two years. If you’re an Orange fan you have to hope last week was an aberration and maybe this is the week Syracuse puts it together.”"

Easier said than done I’m afraid.

Clemson is averaging 38 points per game this season and to be frank, they haven’t even started firing on all cylinders yet.

While Syracuse is averaging 16 points less on the year (22 points per game) after two weeks of play.

It seems like a given that the Tigers are going to put up points whether the Syracuse defense plays as they did vs Maryland or the Liberty matchup.

Earlier in the week, we asked the fans what should Syracuse’s gameplan be on Saturday? Ground and pound or run and gun?

The majority of the fans think ground and pound, but there’s just no way that Syracuse can do that. They have to try and beat Clemson at their own game, which won’t be easy.

The Tigers offense is historically great and Syracuse has all the potential to put up video game numbers themselves offensively, but for whatever reason, it hasn’t materialized so far this season.
