The Syracuse Basketball team plays their 29th game of the season against ACC opponent Wake Forest on the road Saturday afternoon. Inside The Loud House lets, you know how you can catch the game.

Syracuse basketball has its work cut out for them. After losing close games against Duke at home and North Carolina on the road in the last week, Syracuse basketball now sits at 18-10 and 9-6 in ACC play, according to ESPN.com. In order to not be sweating out Selection Sunday, as the Orange always seem to do, they need to prove in these last three regular season games they can at least win the bouts they should win. The last one on their schedule to truly fit that category is the one they play Saturday night on the road: Wake Forest.

The Syracuse basketball squad could technically use a win against either Virginia (at home) or Clemson (on the road) as well, but the game against the Demon Deacons is a must-win game for the Orange. Our Site Expert Paul A. Esden Jr. provided the three sure-fire ways SU can punch their way into the big dance, check it out here.

Wake Forest sits at under .500 on the year with an 11-16 overall record and a 4-11 record in ACC play. Thus to lose to them would be catastrophic to the Orange’s chances of making March Madness and would reduce them to possibly the last four in or last four out category of this year’s bubble.

Syracuse basketball probably has nothing to fear as they have played excellent these last two games. However, they have just struggled to finish against two tremendous Top 5 ranked teams. They held leads for considerable parts of both games and had the lead at the break in both games as well.

All that may be so, but the Orange should not overlook the Demon Deacons because they are still a scrappy team who is playing on their own home court on Saturday afternoon. The Orange will need to play sound basketball in a tough environment and just take care of business if they want to escape with a win.

In regard to this game, there are a lot of positives about this matchup going in. First off, the Orange are 7-1 all-time versus Wake Forest, according to Orangehoops.org, and are also 6-1 against them since they joined the ACC in 2014.

Secondly, ESPN’s Matchup predictor gives the Orange a 81.6% chance of winning on the road at Wake Forest, according to ESPN.com. That’s not bad chances/odds for a road game in ACC play.

Thirdly, Wake strangely gives up more points than it scores on average. The Demon Deacons only score 69.1 points per game, and give up 75.9 points per game. Just in case it’s not clear, its not good to give up over six points more per contests to the opponents you face.

Fourthly, the Orange are 5-3 in true road games this year. Two of those three losses on the road though are versus Virginia Tech and North Carolina, both of whom are ranked in the Top 25 of the AP poll.

Lastly, the Orange have won their last matchup last season in the ACC tournament, 73-64 for Syracuse basketball’s first ACC tournament win since joining the ACC, according to ESPN.com. Thus playing them again should bring back fond memories for the Orange starting five who all returned this year.

All things considered, this looks like a favorable game for the Orange and a game they should win. As we all know though, no win in the ACC is a given though as each opponent can play well in this conference top to bottom. Therefore the Orange need to come in focused and ready to play in this early afternoon matchup.
