The Syracuse Basketball team plays their 25th game of the season against North Carolina State on the road Wednesday evening. Inside The Loud House tells you how you can watch and listen to the game.

Syracuse Basketball has finally arrived at the part of the schedule we have dreaded all year: the gauntlet of ranked teams at the end of the ACC conference schedule. The good news is that the Orange, for the most part, has lived up to and possibly exceeded expectations so far in conference play. Sitting at 8-3 in the conference, according to ESPN.com, and coming off a decent win over Boston College at home, the Orange now will face North Carolina State on the road in Raleigh, North Carolina Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Though the NC State Wolfpack aren’t ranked anymore like they were a few weeks ago, they are a very decent team with lots of talent. Sure, they have struggled lately in conference play, which makes this game just as important as it is for Syracuse. Both teams are technically on the bubble for the NCAA tournament so they both want to win this game to have a head-to-head advantage on their resume (if it comes to that) come selection time.

The Syracuse basketball team will look to improve to 6-1 in true road games this year, (currently 5-1, according to CBSSports) as well at 9-3 in the conference. A win on the road here would be huge for the Orange considering wins should be hard to come by against the likes of Duke, Virginia, Louisville, and North Carolina that are upcoming on the schedule. All of those team ranked in the Top 25, so yeah, enough said.

The Wolfpack, on the other hand, will look to stop the bleeding as they have lost three of their last four games, with their one lone victory of those four being a very close 79-76 win over Pitt, which is not exactly a confidence builder.

The Wolfpack know the nation and the conference are looking at them to continue to struggle. Just over a week ago they were absolutely horrible offensively against Virginia Tech, only scoring 24 points the entire game, on their home court no less, in a 47-24 loss, according to ESPN.com.

More from Syracuse Basketball

The Wolfpack will be looking to their trio of guards- Torin Dorn, CJ Bryce, and Markell Johnson, to lead the way to a big home win. Dorn, a senior, leads the team in points per game at 13.6, as well as rebounds at 6.6 per game, according to ESPN.com. Meanwhile, Johnson, a junior leads the team with four assists per game for the Wolfpack to go along with 11.1 points per game. These two especially will need to step up if the Wolfpack want any chance in this one against the Orange.

Per usual, the Orange will turn to star guard Tyus Battle to lead the way. He is playing some of his best basketball as of late having scored 44 points in his last two games, and just over a week ago had a 31 point performance in a tight road win over Boston College. Battle hopes he won’t have to carry the load as much in this one, as he now has a hot shooting Buddy Boeheim and a finally consistent Oshae Brissett to turn to on offense.

The only real question marks that are keeping Syracuse basketball from being a truly unstoppable force though is the inconsistent play of senior center Paschal Chukwu and senior point guard Frank Howard. Each have struggled mightily in these last few games. Each have a great game and then struggle for the next couple. That cannot happen down the stretch if Syracuse wants to pick off one of these ranked teams.

The Orange need Chukwu to play like a beast on the boards and alter/block shots without fouling so Marek Dolezaj doesn’t have to play center as much. Dolezaj is great at the five position, but he’s not as big a body as Chukwu is at 7-foot-2.

As for Howard, he has the ability to score and distribute, but he has struggled mightily to do either in recent games. This has forced Coach Boeheim to bench him in favor of freshmen Jalen Carey and Buddy Boeheim. Howard is too valuable defensively to be out of the game for the Orange, but if he does nothing to help the team score in terms of assists or points then it’s almost counterproductive having him on the floor. These two in particular have got to figure things out, and hopeful,ly it starts with this game.

Last year, the Orange played NC State once, at home and lost 70-74, according to ESPN.com. They held Dorn to only eight points , but they unfortunately were unable to prevent a late three pointer by Johnson, which sealed the win for the Wolfpack with 33 seconds to go in the game. The Orange will be looking for payback, and a win at PNC arena would be a nice way to show that.
