Two more non-conference foes are on the Syracuse basketball squad’s 2018-19 schedule, as Eastern Washington and Morehead State will visit the Hill.

Is it time for Syracuse basketball already?

The NBA Finals are done. My hometown Washington Capitals have claimed the NHL’s Stanley Cup. Yay!

Save for some baseball and tennis, there’s not a heck of a lot to watch right about now as it pertains to professional sports (that is, based on the sports which I tend to follow).

Ugh.

Well, at least we can begin to turn our attention toward the upcoming season for our beloved SU basketball crew, which returns all five starters from the 2017-18 campaign and will have fairly high expectations to make another deep March Madness run.

With regard to its out-of-conference line-up for the next term, the ‘Cuse has collected two more foes, as the university’s athletics department announced this week that the Orange will play host to Eastern Washington on Nov. 6 and Morehead State on Nov. 10.

Those affairs are part of the 24th-annual 2K Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project.

Another component of this terrific event, which we’ve already noted here at Inside The Loud

House, is that Syracuse will battle former Big East rival Connecticut on Nov. 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Depending on how SU does versus the Huskies, our boys will then face off against Iowa or Oregon on Nov. 16, in either the 2018 2K Classic championship contest, or its consolation round. My vote is for the former.

Per a cuse.com press release, Eastern Washington is dueling with the ‘Cuse for the initial instance. In 2017-18, the Eagles finished 20-15, earning a trip to the College Basketball Invitational, says cuse.com.

Morehead State, meanwhile, is 0-2 versus the Orange, with the most-recent encounter a 110-69 victory by our group in the 1987-88 stanza, according to the announcement. A year ago, the Eagles (yes, Morehead State is also known as the Eagles) recorded an 8-21 mark, per cuse.com.

Syracuse has participated in more 2K Classics than any other program, with SU in 2018 making its sixth appearance, while sporting a 14-3 overall record and securing titles in 2004 and 2009.

Besides its four match-ups in the 2K Classic, the Orange in the non-conference portion of 2018-19 will see Buffalo, Cornell, Georgetown and Old Dominion come to Central New York. The ‘Cuse is also at Ohio State in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

By my count, that leaves us with four games left to go to complete the out-of-conference roster.

Thoughts on other outfits that we should add? I vote for St. John’s, Villanova, Washington – and the Hoyas on a second go-round.
