The Syracuse basketball season continues against their next opponent Iona. Which is a huge step up in competition from Cornell. ITLH breaks it down.

The Syracuse basketball squad will continue their cruise control play against more lackluster opponents. Iona is a perennial tournament team, they’ve been there in back-to-back years for the first time since the 2012-2013 seasons.

But this is a much more talented Orange team that should be a bubble team throughout the rest of this season. Tyus Battle continues to dominate offensively leading the pack in all three games this season. Oshae Brissett seems to be the robin to his batman, we’ll see if that continues tonight. The other big key is what Jim Boeheim talked about in a recent press conference, this Orange team is going to press a bit more then teams in the past thanks to the size (Bourama Sidibe and Paschal Chukwu), lets watch that theme as it continues through the rest of the season. SU dominates 82-60.

The Syracuse basketball squad looks to start off the 2017-18 campaign with two wins in a row, when the Orange hosts Iona on Tuesday night. Unsurprisingly, SU played solid defense, but struggled to shoot, in a convincing victory over Cornell last Friday evening. I expect more of the same against the Gaels.

With so many new faces, the ‘Cuse offense is clearly a work in progress. However, the 2-3 zone, I believe, will prove a tremendous asset this campaign. Versus Iona, I think that Syracuse bests the Gaels fairly easily, by a final count of 73-57.

I️ think you will see much of the same out of Syracuse on Tuesday night. Expect Tyus Battle and Frank Howard to spark the offense. However I️ want to see Syracuse look to get some of the young forwards involved offensively early on in the game. I️ hope to see a much more relaxed Oshae Brissett and I️ expect him to have a big game. Syracuse controls the paint once again thanks to guys like Chukwu, Moyer, Dolezaj, and Sidibe. Orange win 79-54.

Syracuse basketball looked much stronger in there first game of the season against Cornell than they did in the first two exhibition games. Oshae Brissett got a double-double, and Geno Thorpe looked sharp at guard. In addition, Bourama Sidibe continued to improve and show he deserves to be part of the regular rotation.

As long as Tyus Battle gets his shots and the rest of the team share the ball well I think the Orange’s season is bright despite inexperience. As for our next matchup against Iona, I think the Orange show much of the same effort. They will miss their shots in the first half, but they will study to fall more in the second half as they gel more. I expect the Orange to win by double digits on this one, 74-58. Go Orange!
