Syracuse Basketball Recruiting: Buddy Boeheim Inks NLI To Suit Up At SU
By Neil Adler
More jolly recruiting stuff for Syracuse basketball, as 2018 prospect Buddy Boeheim, the son of the legendary head coach, has made his commitment official.
Buddy Boeheim has signed on the dotted line to play for his father at the ‘Cuse.
Phew.
For a minute there, I felt slightly worried.
Not!!!
All kidding aside, though, this is terrific news. Happiness surrounds the Boeheim family.
Buddy Boeheim will begin his Orange career in 2018-19. His older brother, Jimmy, is a freshman forward with Cornell. The Big Red, as we all know, squares off with SU this Friday night from the Carrier Dome, in the 2017-18 season opener for both squads.
At this juncture, an overwhelming sense of pride must envelope Syracuse boss Jim Boeheim.
A three-star guard/small forward in the 2018 class, Buddy Boeheim completed his national letter

of intent on Wednesday, per a tweet from Jason Smith, the head coach at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., where Buddy transferred to for his senior stint.
Oh, and in case you missed it, 2018 five-star forward Darius Bazley also wrapped up his NLI to the ‘Cuse on Wednesday. Looking ahead, 2018 four-star guard Jalen Carey will reportedly follow his two future teammates in finalizing his own NLI to SU on Thursday.
While Carey and Bazley are highly rated in this class, Buddy Boeheim flies more under the radar. He’s not ranked by some recruiting services, with 247Sports currently slotting him at 210th across the country.
Honestly, whatever. This dude is a lights-out shooter, and most people pay too much attention to these so-called rankings. I, on the other hand, take them with a tremendous grain of salt.
Here is a pair of lucid examples that speaks to Buddy Boeheim’s talent: in the last campaign, he netted about 26 points and 10 boards per contest for Jamesville-DeWitt High School, says this Syracuse.com article. That stellar output resulted in him receiving the 2016-17 All-Central New York large schools Player of the Year award.
Secondly, according to Syracuse.com, Buddy Boeheim made approximately 47 percent of his 3-point attempts this past summer during the AAU circuit, where he faced stiff competition.
This guy can ball. He is not merely Jim Boeheim’s son, and only getting to don a ‘Cuse uniform because of nepotism. Buddy Boeheim has earned a spot on the 2018-19 roster.
Jim Boeheim has intimated that he plans to remain at the helm on the Hill until Buddy Boeheim graduates. Should that occur, JB could become the oldest men’s hoops coach in NCAA history, at least at the Division I level, reports Syracuse.com.

Sounds good to me. This father-son duo is totally sweet, and don’t forget about Jimmy Boeheim nearby at Cornell.
Like I said earlier, elation abounds the entire Boeheim family.
As a dad myself, I wouldn’t want it any other way.
