How did the biggest win in the 21st century for the Syracuse football team affect recruiting? ITLH did some research to find out the answer.

The Syracuse football team had their huge win over Clemson in the Carrier Dome this past Friday by a score of 27-24.

Much has been said about the big upset win in terms of what this means for Dino Babers and his tenure here at Syracuse.

Our very own Paul “Boy Green” Esden is calling upon the school to extend Babers.

The hashtag, #PayDino, has been a huge topic of conversation. So if Orange Nation so chooses they can support the cause below.

A win against the defending national champions and number two team in the nation will get people coming to bat for you. And Dino Babers has people coming to bat for him.

Not only does Babers seem to have a great football mind, but he is charismatic and always makes for a great interview. Since the big win last Friday, coach Babers has been featured on Mike and Mike, The Paul Finebaum show, and The Gottlieb show, just to name a few.

The publicity that this win gives the program is great. It puts the face of our program, Dino Babers, out there in the national spotlight to high school kids that are looking to play at the next level.

Babers post game speech was once again a topic of discussion after the game, and was played repeatedly on all of the programs he appeared on. How can this not appeal to these high school kids? The inspiring speech makes me want to suit up and play for the second year head coach.

Let’s examine what Babers and the Orange have been doing since the Clemson win to boost recruiting, and since their last commit of 4-star offensive tackle Qadir White.

Hassan Hall Decommits

Syracuse got some bad news on the recruiting front last week when running back commit Hassan Hall reopened his recruitment.

Hall pledged to Syracuse back in early August and while he plays both DB and RB Syracuse recruited him as an offensive player. The Orange already had two running back’s in the class of 2018 in Akeem Dixon and Jawhar Jordan. Hall figured to get a chance at running back, and if that didn’t work out then possibly as a slot receiver.

He just reopened his recruitment, he did not commit else where. Before he committed, Louisville was reportedly the front-runner so you have to wonder if that’s where he ends up.

The Georgia native was quoted saying this about Syracuse after he decommitted:

"“They are still in very high consideration.”"

Dino Babers is on the Trail

After the Orange’s upset, coach Babers was back and recruiting the very next day. He attended a high school game in the New York City area between commits Qadir White and “Trill” Williams.

It’s possible Babers is just there to watch the two commits duke it out. However, both play at great football high schools with plenty of talent and its possible he was checking in on other players. Keep an eye on those schools to see if Syracuse gets more commits from them in the class of 2018 or in years beyond.

Class Outlook

Syracuse now has 14 commits in the class of 2018. They have not gotten a commitment since White’s back in late August. Many players are returning for the Orange next season so expect 2018 to be a relatively small class.

However Syracuse will certainly fill up more than 14 spots and as the season continues, and eventually comes to an end Syracuse should finish strong before national signing day in February.
