Former Syracuse basketball players continue to get looks from the NBA. This time the always controversial, Tyler Roberson.
On Monday, former Syracuse basketball big man Tyler Roberson, along with a handful of other NBA prospects worked out with the Los Angeles Lakers for one-and-a-half hours.
The legendary Magic Johnson helped run the practice. To be honest, there was absolutely no better opportunities for Roberson to showcase his abilities, then in front of arguably the best Point Guard of all-time.
The NBA draft is on June 22nd, in just over two weeks from now. While there is a very small chance that Roberson will hear his name called out of the 60 soon-to-be drafted players, the Syracuse product is willing to accept that, and put in his best effort to hopefully make a summer league team, and take the long route to the NBA.
Roberson is coming off a lengthy four-year campaign at Syracuse, and while many thought he would break out after a strong 2016 Final Four run, Roberson didn’t live up to expectations this season.
Although Roberson didn’t quite dominate the way most ‘Cuse fans hoped when he laced them up

for the first time in 2013, he did show flashes of dominance during his time with the Orange. One of those dominant performances came in an ACC battle against the Duke Blue Devils in January of 2016, where Roberson’s 14 points and career-best 20 boards led Syracuse to stun Coach K’s squad 64-62 at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Fun Fact!
Roberson averaged less than 10 minutes than he did in the 2015-16 season. While also averaging three less points per game, averaging three less rebounds, and shot 10% worse from the field according to ESPN.com
However, the 6-foot-8 Forward from New Jersey has put the past behind him, and is still confident in his potential. During an interview with Spectrum News, Roberson explained that his energy, and hard-working mentality will pave way for the rest of his game to come naturally.
"“I wanna play with a lot of energy, and then get improving at shooting, and the other stuff will come.”"
Roberson continued to express his willingness to do whatever it takes to succeed when talking about how he will put in the same 110% in both practice and in games.

Things may not be handed to Tyler Roberson on a silver spoon, but that doesn’t matter to him. His confidence and work ethic should allow him to at least be given a shot in the NBA.
