Syracuse women's basketball had a quadrant-one opportunity on Thursday night at Notre Dame, but too many turnovers and a woeful evening shooting from deep did the Orange in amid a 72-62 setback.

The 'Cuse was trying to grab its second quadrant-one victory to date in the 2025-26 season. The Orange also had a chance to potentially solidify its top-four standing in the Atlantic Coast Conference ahead of next month's post-season league tournament in Duluth, Ga.

With this outcome, Syracuse women's basketball drops to 21-7 overall and 11-6 in ACC competition. The Fighting Irish, meanwhile, improves to 19-9 overall and 11-6 in conference contests.

The Orange's regular-season finale in the 2025-26 campaign will arrive on Sunday, March 1, when the 'Cuse will host Boston College at the JMA Wireless Dome, beginning at 2 pm EST, with coverage on the ACC Network Extra.

The Eagles are one of the league's worst groups this term, and Syracuse women's basketball must take care of business on Sunday to remain on the right side of the bubble for this spring's March Madness. During that conference clash, on senior day, SU will celebrate its 2015-16 squad that advanced to the national championship game of the NCAA Tournament.

Syracuse women's basketball hung tough at Notre Dame but couldn't seal the deal.

On Thursday evening, senior guard Laila Phelia led the Orange with 23 points. Freshman center Uche Izoje notched yet another double-double, tallying 12 points and 10 rebounds. Graduate student guard Dominique Darius and junior guard Sophie Burrows chipped in 10 points and nine points, respectively.

Notre Dame made 47 percent from the field, 15 percent from beyond the arc and 75 percent from the free-throw line. The Orange connected on 39 percent from the field, 20 percent from downtown (4-of-20) and 80 percent from the charity stripe.

In statistical categories, the Fighting Irish led 22-15 in turnovers forced, 24-14 in points off turnovers, 46-36 in paint points, 10-7 in steals and 14-11 in assists. Conversely, Syracuse women's basketball led 40-33 in total rebounds, 23-20 in defensive rebounds, 17-13 in offensive rebounds, 13-8 in second-chance points, 8-6 in bench points, 14-12 in fast-break points and 6-3 in blocks.
