Top analyst projects Syracuse basketball to land 4-star Kiyan Anthony as decision nears
By Neil Adler
Long-time Syracuse basketball 2025 recruit Kiyan Anthony from New York City will announce his college decision in fewer than two weeks.
The Orange has some analyst buzz for the four-star shooting guard, who is the son of 'Cuse legend, long-time NBA star and future Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony.
The 6-foot-5 Kiyan Anthony is down to a final three of Syracuse basketball, Big Ten Conference member Southern California and Auburn out of the Southeastern Conference. He has officially visited the Orange and the Trojans, but not the Tigers.
Several national recruiting analysts, lately, have said that they believe Anthony's recruiting process will ultimately come down to the 'Cuse and Southern Cal.
A top expert is forecasting Syracuse basketball to prevail for four-star Kiyan Anthony.
According to posts on X, Anthony is expected to make his commitment announcement on Friday, Nov. 15, via his dad's show, 7PM in Brooklyn. I don't have inside intel on Anthony's recruitment, although at the same time, I would be surprised if he picks a school other than the Orange while announcing on his dad's show.
In any event, a few days ago, top national analyst/scout Jamie Shaw of On3 logged a prediction in the direction of Syracuse basketball for Anthony, giving his projection a 60 percent confidence rating.
His On3 colleague, national reporter Joe Tipton, predicted back in May that the 'Cuse would land Anthony. That same month, two projections in the Orange's favor for Anthony were also logged on Rivals.com.
Does this mean that Syracuse basketball is definitely going to hear its name called for Anthony in mid-November? It does not, in my humble opinion. These sorts of analyst predictions are often accurate, but not always so.
However, Shaw's prediction for the 'Cuse in Anthony's recruitment is a great sign. Jamie is one of the top national analysts in the sport, and he's extremely plugged into the recruiting arena at the high school level.
Anthony is heading into his senior season during the upcoming 2024-25 campaign at the powerhouse Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., a program that experts say will contend for an EYBL Scholastic regular-season crown and a return trip to the Chipotle Nationals in the spring of 2025.
Syracuse basketball coaches have prioritized Anthony, a top-30 national prospect in the 2025 cycle, for a long time. They offered him a scholarship in November of 2022. Anthony went on an official visit to the Hill in late October of last year.
In early September of 2024, at the start of the fall recruiting period, the Orange staff conducted an in-home visit with Anthony. On numerous occasions over the past couple of years, 'Cuse coaches have been in attendance for Anthony during NCAA live periods as he starred on the AAU circuit for the Baltimore-based Team Melo in Nike's EYBL league.
If Anthony does commit to Syracuse basketball, he would become part of an Orange 2025 class that currently features three verbal pledges in five-star forward Sadiq White Jr., three-star wing Aaron Womack, and three-star combo guard Luke Fennell.
