Over the years, several players who suited up for the powerhouse Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., have gone on to compete for Syracuse basketball, including Buddy Boeheim, C.J. Fair and Chris McCullough, among others.
Maybe the next in this Brewster to 'Cuse pipeline could be 2027 four-star wing/small forward Clyde Walters from Birmingham, Ala. Per his X page, the 6-foot-6 Walters recently picked up a scholarship offer from the Orange staff. A huge congrats from 'Cuse Nation to Clyde!
Walters, ranked in the top 30 nationally of his class by ESPN, is a rising junior at Brewster, which these days is a member of arguably the nation's top high school hoops conference, the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic ("EYBL Scholastic").

Brewster, led by one of the country's top head coaches, Jason Smith, had a tremendous 2024-25 campaign. Per MaxPreps, the Bobcats sported a 28-5 overall record and were ranked in the top-five nationally by MaxPreps and ESPN's recruiting director, Paul Biancardi. During the EYBL Scholastic regular season, the Bobcats finished at 9-2 and in a tie for the No. 1 spot.

This past April, Brewster reached the semifinals of the annual Chipotle Nationals, and the Bobcats nearly knocked off the eventual national champion, Miami's Christopher Columbus High School, in that round. Looking ahead to the 2025-26 season, Walters should have a larger role at Brewster, and he will battle numerous Orange recruiting targets in EYBL Scholastic play.
'27 Clyde Walters of @BrewsterHoops is a 3 level scorer. that is a lights out shooter. He attacks the hoop well adn finishes through contact. He is a lockdown defender that gets in the passing lanes for steals, leading to fast breaks for his team. @Clydewalters_

Syracuse basketball recently got into the mix for 2027 four-star wing Clyde Walters.
Over the last two weekends, Brewster has participated in two NEPSAC ("New England Preparatory School Athletic Council") showcases amid an NCAA-permitted scholastic live period where college coaches can watch prospects as they play for their high school programs.
This past weekend, the NEPSAC event was in Avon, Conn., and according to social media posts, Syracuse basketball general manager Alex Kline was on hand. I don't know for sure if Kline was in attendance for Walters, but I assume he saw him, since Walters received a 'Cuse scholarship offer on June 29.

Besides Syracuse basketball, according to his X account and recruiting services, Walters' early scholarship offer sheet includes schools such as Alabama, Troy, Kennesaw State, Tennessee Tech, Georgia State and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. That list will significantly grow sooner rather than later.
In his cycle, ESPN ranks him No. 27 overall and No. 9 at small forward. Walters is No. 86 nationally via 247Sports and No. 124 overall from the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
To date, I'm aware of at least seven other 2027 prospects who have landed Orange offers. They are four-star point guard J'Lon Lyons, four-star big man Isaiah Hill, five-star wing/forward Moussa Kamissoko, five-star forward Baba Oladotun, five-star forward Zion Green, five-star power forward/center Paul Osaruyi and four-star big man Caleb Ourigou.

On the AAU circuit during the current grassroots hoops season, Walters has played for the Alabama Fusion in Nike's EYBL league, where he's averaged 14.9 points, 4.0 assists and 9.1 rebounds per game.
