The 2026-27 season opener for Syracuse women's basketball will be at home against a non-conference team the Orange has played just one time in the past.

SU Athletics announced on Wednesday that the 'Cuse will host Sacred Heart, which is based in Fairfield, Conn., on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the JMA Wireless Dome. The programs' prior meeting came on November 27, 2005, when the Pioneers came away with an 84-57 road victory.

In the 2025-26 campaign, Sacred Heart went 13-18 overall and 10-10 in league play. The Pioneers compete in the Metro Conference, which was formerly the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference ("MAAC").

Syracuse women's basketball, meanwhile, sported a 24-9 overall mark in 2025-26 and reached the NCAA Tournament's second round. The Orange's roster for the upcoming season features center Uche Izoje, who was the ACC's rookie of the year in 2025-26, and several other returnees, along with college transfers and incoming freshmen.

As Inside the Loud House noted in a recent column, the Orange is hoping that graduate student guard Dominique Darius will receive a waiver from the NCAA to play in 2026-27. On Wednesday, a team spokesperson said there is still no update on Darius.

We don't know much about Syracuse women's basketball's 2026-27 schedule at this juncture.

Besides the season opener against Sacred Heart, the Orange has announced a road non-conference game against nearby Le Moyne out of the Northeast Conference ("NEC") on Wednesday, Dec. 16. In their short all-time series together, the 'Cuse is 3-0 against the Dolphins, which in 2025-26 went 12-21 overall and 9-9 in league play.

In this season's ACC/SEC Challenge, the Orange will welcome the Oklahoma Sooners to the Dome on Thursday, Dec. 3. In 2025-26, Oklahoma went 26-8 overall and 11-5 in Southeastern Conference competition, while advancing to the Sweet 16 of the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

Per Syracuse Athletics, the Orange and the Sooners have squared off once before, in the 2011-12 campaign. At a neutral-site contest in Las Vegas, Oklahoma defeated Syracuse women's basketball, 82-63.

The 'Cuse will also play Big East Conference powerhouse UConn in an exhibition on Monday, Oct. 12, at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn. In 2025-26, the Huskies went 38-1 overall but fell short of a national championship, losing in the Final Four.
