Syracuse football continues to make waves in the Sunshine State.

On Thursday, per his X page, 2027 defensive lineman Edan Richardson from Florida verbally pledged to the Orange. A huge congrats and welcome from 'Cuse Nation to Edan!

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound rising senior took an official visit to the Syracuse football program from May 29 to May 31, as I reported last week.

According to his X page, Richardson has picked up 10 scholarship offers. The 'Cuse offered him on May 5 of this year. Richardson's full offer sheet also includes UCF, Boston College, Miami (Ohio), Southern Mississippi, Jacksonville State, Eastern Michigan, Western Kentucky, Coastal Carolina and Florida Atlantic.

The Orange staff, led by head coach Fran Brown and general manager Tommy Caporale, has made Florida a huge recruiting emphasis at the high school level in recent years, and it's paying off. Richardson is SU's third Florida-based verbal commit in the 2027 cycle, and the 'Cuse has also landed numerous prospects from the Sunshine State in other classes.

Syracuse football has scored a talented 2027 defensive lineman.

Richardson spent his junior campaign at the Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., which went 7-3 overall in the 2025 season. Per MaxPreps and social media posts, as a junior, Richardson tallied 10 solo tackles, 21 total tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, six sacks, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery.

In late May, Richardson announced on X that he would transfer for his senior year to Archbishop McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches, Fla., which is near both Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

According to MaxPreps, in 2025, Archbishop McCarthy High School sported a 10-3 mark and reached the regional finals of the Florida High School Athletic Association ("FHSAA") Class 4A state playoffs.

Last December, the X account known as The Reamon Report, which evaluates high school prospects, published a lengthy evaluation on Richardson, writing in part that the new Syracuse football commit "is a high-motor defender with a complete skill set: burst, technique, instincts, and effort. His ability to win inside, disrupt the pass game, and chase plays down across the field makes him a valuable asset for any college program. He affects the game even when he’s not making the tackle - and that’s the mark of a next-level defensive lineman."

With Richardson's pledge, the 'Cuse has secured 14 verbal commits in a 2027 class that is No. 31 nationally via 247Sports and No. 37 overall, per Rivals.
