Syracuse's Fran Brown building strong relationship with NJ 4-star, who plans to visit this fall

Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown and his staff are recruiting 2028 four-star athlete Anthony Lopez Jr. hard, and he plans to take in a 'Cuse game this fall.

The Orange has pursued the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Lopez, a talented wide receiver and cornerback, for a while now. SU coaches first offered him a scholarship in January 2025, according to his X page.

He has visited the 'Cuse on several occasions. Per 247Sports and confirmed by Inside the Loud House, Lopez plans to take nine game-day visits this fall, with those schools being Virginia, Duke, UCLA, Penn State, Rutgers, Auburn, Illinois, Nebraska and Syracuse.

Inside the Loud House is told that Lopez plans to visit the Orange for its 2026 regular-season finale against Notre Dame, which is No. 4 in the Associated Press' preseason top-25 poll, on Saturday, Nov. 28, at the JMA Wireless Dome.

Lopez is a standout at Paramus Catholic High School in Paramus, N.J. Brown is from the Garden State, and SU's recruiting emphasis along the Northeast corridor includes New Jersey.

I'm told that Lopez has a strong relationship with Brown and the 'Cuse program. Lopez is likely to trim down his list of suitors still in contention after he takes his game-day visits this fall and his junior season at Paramus Catholic concludes.

In the 2025 campaign, Paramus Catholic went 6-7 overall, according to MaxPreps. As a sophomore, Lopez had 22 catches for 459 yards and seven scores through the air. On defense, per MaxPreps, he had 12 solo tackles, 20 total tackles, one interception (a pick-six for 70 yards) and four pass breakups.

Within the 2028 class, according to the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking, Lopez is No. 226 overall, No. 11 at athlete and No. 10 in New Jersey. Over at the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, he is No. 273 nationally, No. 14 at athlete and No. 10 in New Jersey.

Besides the Orange, Lopez's full scholarship offer sheet, according to recruiting services, includes schools such as Auburn, Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, N.C. State, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, UCLA, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, East Carolina, Temple, Akron, Bowling Green and UConn.

As Inside the Loud House has detailed in various articles of late, the 'Cuse staff will welcome numerous verbal commits and recruiting targets across the 2027 and 2028 classes, and likely the 2029 cycle, on game-day visits to Syracuse football throughout the upcoming season.
