Last week, both the Syracuse men's and women's lacrosse teams announced their schedules for the upcoming season. The times of the games will be announced at a later date, but the dates and opponents were revealed. And it looks to be an exciting and intriguing season for both teams.

The women will play NINE teams from last season's NCAA Tournament including the national championship runner ups Northwestern on February 25 (with former Syracuse goalie Delaney Sweitzer now a Wildcat) and close out the regular season against the reigning, defending, undisputed heavyweight champion of the NCAA, the Boston College Eagles, on Thursday, April 17, in Syracuse. The season starts on February 7 against the University of Albany, led by Syracuse Orange legend Katie Rowan Thomson.

And speaking of familiar faces, the Orange men's lacrosse team also announced its schedule and will start its season at home against Jacksonville on February 1. Jacksonville's head coach is former legendary Cuse goalie John Galloway, going into his 9th season there (if you aren't familiar with him, check out this play from when he was at Cuse), but the first time playing the Orange.

The schedule will include a neutral site game in Long Island against Cornell on April 12, nine home games and four road games. One home game will be against first-round tournament opponent Towson, who Cuse ousted 20-15 in 2024. They will also have to play Duke and Maryland on the road and Johns Hopkins and UNC at home this season.

It's also time for Syracuse men's and women's lacrosse to begin their 2025 seasons.

I can't promise that I will provide game-by-game breakdowns for either team but one of my goals this year is to try to do more to cover BOTH teams at least occasionally. Both programs have seen a lot of success and both programs are worthy of more support whenever I can.

Gary Gait is doing some great work on the men's side and hiring Kayla Treanor, when he moved to the men's program, I think was a great hire for the Syracuse women's program. Good luck to both teams and here is to hoping we see both teams finish the season with championships or at least some really good tournament runs.

Go Orange!
