National analysts say that Syracuse football is a legit contender to prevail for elite four-star defensive back J'Vari Flowers, who recently moved from the 2026 class to the 2025 cycle.
The 6-foot, 177-pound Flowers is rated as high as No. 55 overall in his class by Rivals.com, and both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking place him in the top 125 nationally of the 2025 cycle.
Not too long ago, word broke on social media that Flowers, an All-American who helped lead his Miami program to a state title at the conclusion of the 2024 season, is down to six finalists. They are Syracuse football, North Carolina, Auburn, Georgia, Florida and Miami.
Per posts on X and recruiting services, Flowers, who has visited the 'Cuse in the past, has set official visits to all the programs in his top six. He is scheduled to take an official visit to the Orange during the weekend that begins March 21.

On that official visit to the Hill, Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown and his top-flight staff will have an opportunity to, hopefully, seal the deal with Flowers. Although, as one might imagine, the competition is intense here for the Orange to win out.
A recent post on X from On3 stated that Flowers is eyeing a commitment announcement on March 31. Stay tuned.

Syracuse football has scored the top six of 2025 4-star defensive back J'Vari Flowers.
At this juncture, I'm not seeing a ton of analyst predictions on recruiting Web sites for Flowers, yet Miami is in the lead for him on the On3 Web site. That's not much of a surprise, given that the Hurricanes are a home-town team for Flowers.
In 2024, MaxPreps named him an All-American, as Flowers was a key contributor in helping guide Miami Northwestern Senior High School to the Florida High School Athletic Association ("FHSAA") 3A state championship.

As I've noted in the past, several other Miami Northwestern players are either officially signed with the Orange in its large 2025 class, while 'Cuse coaches are in pursuit of highly rated targets from this school in other cycles.

Flowers has landed more than 30 offers throughout his recruiting process, according to 247Sports. Brown, who was the defensive backs coach at Georgia before becoming the 'Cuse head coach, and his staff offered Flowers on February 16 of last year.
According to media reports and comments from national analysts, Flowers is high on the Syracuse football program and Brown. Currently the Orange's 2025 class includes 35 signees at the high school level and is ranked No. 41 around the county, per the 247Sports Composite.
Whether the Orange will secure a pledge from Flowers remains to be seen, but the 'Cuse is a big-time player here, and a commitment by Flowers to Syracuse football would prove huge for the team's already strong 2025 cycle.
