Syracuse Football: The Orange lost at Boston College ... now what for 'Cuse?
By Chuck Fiello
As WWE champion Cody Rhodes likes to say, "So, what do you want to talk about Orange Nation?" Unfortunately, the Syracuse football team lost to Boston College on Saturday 37-31 on the road.
Losing stinks. I am not going to sit here and tell you that the sun is shining when it looks cloudy, BUTTTT this season is not over with yet either, and I don't give up unless the team gives up or the season is over.
I do watch the product on the field (or listen if I can). I also watch the press conferences after every game, too (I watch the game highlight clips, too, if they win). I do my best to absorb as much information as possible before making my judgments.
And before you condemn this team, I hope you will take five minutes out of your day to hear Fran Brown's post-game comments as well and remember that this is a first-time head coach learning on the fly who just coached against a former Bill Parcells assistant and head coach of his own in Houston.
I love my Orange. I love it when my Orange wins. I love when my fellow fans can thump their chests and be proud of this team and everyone is in a good mood. But I also do my very best to try to not just jump off cliffs after a loss. I try to see how the team responds and let the coaches coach especially if they show me that they are aware of the issues and trying to work on them.
Syracuse football is still on track for a solid 2024 season.
Head coach Fran Brown doesn't do coach speak...he is open and honest and lets everyone know if he sees issues and what this team is trying to do.
Syracuse still has six wins with three games remaining (four if you count the bowl game). They have the talent to win. I would not rule out anything happening in the last three games, including losing them all or winning them all.
If anything, if this team isn't giving up and willing to live up to the DART mentality, I do think they could still win the games. And I truly believe that the staff saw everything that we saw in that game and is sitting in meetings and practices trying to find ways to fix things like flags, slow starts and stopping the run.
What happens next I don't know but I know that by listening to Coach Brown, if players give up on his DART mentality, he has stated that he's not afraid to let a freshman or another player take their place.
If you are and make plays, he's right there pumping the players up and congratulating them like a fan would if we could. He is hard-nosed but fair and simply wants the best for the players, the program, the school, the fans and the community.
Now the question remains, will this result in wins? With weapons like Kyle McCord, LeQuint Allen Jr., Oronde Gadsden II and Marlowe Wax Jr., plus many more I didn't mention, this team can win, and I won't give up so long as they won't.
Go Orange!
