Peyton Falzone, a highly ranked quarterback in the 2026 class from Pennsylvania who received a Syracuse football offer over the summer, said via his X page that he has de-committed from fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Virginia Tech and reopened his recruitment.
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Falzone, a four-star signal caller and a top-200 national prospect in his cycle, is a standout junior at Nazareth Area High School in Nazareth, Pa. Per a post on his X page from mid-November, during the 2024 season, the dual-threat quarterback tallied 2,136 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns while rushing for 743 yards and scoring eight touchdowns on the ground.
In an interview with top 247Sports national analyst Tom Loy, Falzone said in part, "Reflecting on discussions with my family, I felt it was necessary to make this change. It didn't feel right to be visiting other schools while being locked in with Virginia Tech. I owe it to myself, my family, and the schools recruiting me to be fully invested in every opportunity I received during this important time."
Falzone, who was named the offensive MVP of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference in the 2024 campaign, said via his X account on June 22 of this year that he had landed a scholarship offer from the Orange staff, led by first-year head coach and ace recruiter Fran Brown.
Syracuse football will get a visit from 2026 4-star QB Peyton Falzone, a former Virginia Tech verbal pledge.
Falzone had been verbally committed to the Hokies since late June of this year. According to recruiting services, his offer sheet also includes schools such as Penn State, Kent State, Wisconsin, Bucknell and Lehigh, while Falzone holds interest from Ohio State, Iowa and Rutgers.
Per Loy, Falzone will visit Iowa on Friday and then the Orange on Saturday when Syracuse football hosts No. 6 Miami at the JMA Wireless Dome in the 2024 regular-season finale for the 'Cuse. According to his X page, Falzone made a trip to Ohio State this past weekend.
Within the 2026 class, multiple recruiting services place Falzone in the top 200 overall, the top 20 at quarterback and the top 10 in Pennsylvania. Rivals.com, currently, has him as the No. 6 dual-threat quarterback in this cycle, while ESPN rates Falzone as the No. 4 dual-threat QB.
To date, Syracuse football has two verbal pledges in its 2026 class. They are from three-star running back D'Antae Sheffey of Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, Pa., and three-star athlete/cornerback Jaxson Gates of Damien High School in La Verne, Calif., who verbally pledged to the Orange earlier this week.
