Syracuse football coaches have gone to the City of Brotherly Love for one of their lastest 2026 verbal pledges.

On Saturday night, three-star tight end/defensive tackle Carter Bashir of Neumann Goretti High School in Philadelphia verbally committed to the Orange, he announced on social media. A huge congrats and welcome from 'Cuse Nation to Carter!

Not too long ago, the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Bashir took an official visit to the Syracuse football program, which is led by ace recruiter and head coach Fran Brown.

According to an article from pafootballnews.com, in the 2024 season for Neumann Goretti, he hauled in 25 passes for 351 receiving yards, while on defense, Bashir tallied 44 total tackles, five sacks and 11 tackles for a loss.

Bashir, in explaining why he picked the Orange, told top 247Sports analyst Mike McAllister, "The culture that's being built there, I feel like it's going to develop me as a football player and person."

Syracuse football is in the mix for another 2026 three-star tight end.

Also on Saturday, Rivals.com national analyst John Garcia Jr. reported that 2026 three-star tight end Julius Miles of Freeport High School in Freeport, Fla., is down to a final three of Atlantic Coast conference schools Syracuse football, Louisville and Florida State.

Per Garcia, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound Miles, who also recently officially visited the Orange, plans to make his commitment announcement on July 5. That also happens to be the same day that Syracuse football 2026 priority target Calvin Russell lll, a five-star wide receiver with state champ Miami Northwestern Senior High School, also intends to announce his college decision.

As a junior in 2024, Miles said on X that he caught 56 passes for 900 yards and 10 touchdowns. He said of Syracuse football, in an interview with Garcia, "Their system fits me well and I love how they used Oronde Gadsden II and I could see myself topping everything he did in that system. The Syracuse staff also shows crazy love."

When I wrote this piece on Sunday, the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, within the 2026 cycle, placed Miles at No. 560 nationally, No. 29 at tight end and No. 76 in talent-rich Florida, a state that the Orange staff continues to recruit extremely hard, and with much success.
