Syracuse football's recruiting efforts in the transfer portal are picking up steam, with the portal having opened on January 2 and running through January 16.
On Thursday, the Orange landed three more commitments from college transfers, boosting the team's total to at least five for the time being. Plus, a veteran wide receiver who had entered the transfer portal is now expected to return. Let's jump into it.

Cole Weaver, redshirt sophomore wide receiver at Miami (Ohio)
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Weaver, who hails from Roswell, Ga., has committed to the Orange after a recent visit to the Hill. He is expected to have two years of college eligibility left. In the 2025 season, Weaver hauled in 45 passes for 642 yards and one score through the air. In transfer rankings from 247Sports, he is rated three stars, No. 506 overall and No. 99 at wide receiver.
Ahmad Miller, redshirt sophomore running back at Jackson State
The 6-foot, 207-pound Miller, from Memphis, Tenn., pledged to the 'Cuse after visiting the program on January 4. He should have two years of collegiate eligibility remaining. This past season, he carried the ball 165 times for 1,054 yards and six rushing touchdowns. Miller is three stars, No. 970 overall and No. 84 at running back, per transfer rankings from 247Sports.

Jartavius Flounoy, freshman defensive tackle at Georgia State
The 6-foot-1, 325-pound Flounoy, from Moultrie, Ga., has also committed to Syracuse football. He visited the team on January 5 and January 6. He will have three years of college eligibility left. As a true freshman in the 2025 campaign, Flounoy tallied 13 solo tackles, 22 total tackles, 6.0 tackles for a loss, 3.0 sacks, one quarterback hurry and one pass breakup. Former Georgia State defensive line coach and assistant head coach Jeremy Hawkins is now coaching the edges for the Orange.

Syracuse's 2025 transfer class
With those three pledges, the Orange now has at least five total commits, and this class is ranked No. 57 nationally on the 247Sports Web site. The other two signees are three-star running back JuβJuan Johnson, a sophomore at LSU, and three-star tight end Michael Smith, a sophomore at South Carolina.

Umari Hatcher to return
Mike McAllister of 247Sports and Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports report that Syracuse football redshirt senior wide receiver Umari Hatcher has withdrawn from the transfer portal. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Hatcher, from Woodbridge, Va., barely played in the 2025 season due to injury. He will provide further depth in the Orange's WR room during the 2026 term.
