Syracuse football appears to be a major player in the recruitment of 2026 four-star wide receiver Larry Miles from Florida, a top national analyst says.

The Orange staff, led by ace recruiter and first-year head coach Fran Brown, offered a scholarship to the 6-foot, 174-pound Miles in January of 2024. This past March, he took an unofficial visit to the Hill, saying at the time via his X page that he would "definitely be back."

While Miles' full offer sheet totals more than 15, it seems that a handful of suitors are most significantly in the mix to prevail for this top-500 national prospect in the high school junior class, per the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking.

At least for now, fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Miami is the presumed leader for Miles, with the Hurricanes receiving analyst buzz in his recruitment on both Rivals.com and the On3 Web site.

In a recent article, Rivals.com national analyst John Garcia Jr. wrote, "The new four-star on Rivals continues to hear from new programs, but Miami remains the constant in this recruitment. Fellow ACC programs Syracuse and Pitt are right on the Hurricanes’ heels, potentially slowing down the decision-making process. ... Miles has been to UM and SU while looking to set up an initial trip to Pitt in the New Year."

Syracuse football continues to recruit 2026 four-star wide receiver Larry Miles hard, experts say.

After shining for West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Fla., as a sophomore during the 2023 season, Miles transferred for his junior year to Jones High School in Orlando, Fla.

In the 2024 campaign for Jones, Miles hauled in 68 catches for 1,204 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns, per MaxPreps. Jones, this past term, went 14-1 and reached the championship game of the Florida High School Athletic Association ("FHSAA") Class 4A playoffs.

Brown and his top-flight staff have made the Sunshine State a recruiting focus across numerous classes. In the Orange's 2025 cycle, which has the most signed commits nationwide at the high school level, numerous players in this top-40 class hail from Florida.

So far, Syracuse football has scored a quartet of verbal pledges in its 2026 cycle, which currently checks in at No. 17 overall, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

The Orange's 2026 verbal commits are four-star offensive tackle Javeion Cooper of Melbourne Central Catholic in Melbourne, Fla., three-star athlete/linebacker Maurice Medley of the Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, three-star athlete/defensive back Jaxson Gates of Damien High School in La Verne, Calif., and three-star running back D'Antae Sheffey of Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, Pa.
