Syracuse football released its initial injury report required by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Thursday night, as the Orange prepares to play at SMU in week six on Saturday afternoon in Dallas.

Ten players are listed as out, four are questionable and four are probable, per this injury report. The 'Cuse is expected to release an updated injury report again on Friday evening and then before kick-off on Saturday.

Here who is out for the Orange:
Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Tyshawn Russell (out for the season)
Redshirt junior quarterback Steve Angeli (out for the season)
Freshman wide receiver Darius Johnson
Redshirt senior linebacker Derek McDonald
Redshirt junior defensive back Nate Prater
Sophomore running back/return man Malachi James
Freshman offensive lineman Jackson Iak
Freshman offensive lineman Matthew Hawn
Freshman wide receiver Julian McFadden
Junior defensive lineman Rashard Perry (out for season)

Earlier this week, Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown revealed that Russell and Perry would be out for the rest of the 2025 campaign. According to Brown, Russell is undergoing an undisclosed surgery. Perry has a torn bicep. We wish both players well in their recoveries.

More details from the Syracuse football initial injury report ahead of week six.

The Orange players who are questionable:
Junior tight end David Clement
Junior wide receiver Johntay Cook II
Redshirt junior offensive lineman Carter Clark
Freshman offensive lineman Byron Washington

The 'Cuse players listed as probable are:
Redshirt senior defensive lineman Dion Wilson Jr.
Redshirt junior linebacker Gary Bryant III
Senior safety Devin Grant
Redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Trevion Mack

Syracuse football is 3-2 overall and 1-1 in ACC play. The team is coming off a bad home loss to Duke last Saturday, but the weekend before that, the Orange played well in an upset win over Clemson on the road.

Redshirt sophomore Rickie Collins, a transfer from LSU, started in place of the injured Angeli against the Blue Devils. Collins wasn't great, but let's give him time to settle in. The 'Cuse is a massive betting underdog at SMU. However, if Collins is better, the defense steps up, the run game is more involved, and the team cuts down on its turnovers, the Orange can beat the Mustangs in Dallas.
