Davion Brown, an elite wide receiver/athlete in the high school junior class who hails from Virginia, has trimmed down his list of contenders to five, and Syracuse football remains in the running for the top-40 national prospect.

Listed as 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds on the 247Sports Web site, Brown has a final five of the Orange, Michigan, Georgia, Duke and Penn State, according to posts on X and media reports.

That's quite a list. In addition to fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Duke, Georgia and Penn State made the recent 12-team College Football Playoff, while Michigan won the national championship two seasons ago.

At this time, I'm not seeing any analyst predictions in Brown's recruitment on the 247Sports Web site, Rivals.com or the On3 Web site. Brown, a consensus four-star prospect in the 2026 class, has received roughly two dozen offers from a range of high-major programs throughout his recruitment.

The Orange staff, led by ace recruiter and head coach Fran Brown, offered a scholarship to Davion Brown in February of 2024.

Syracuse football is expected to get a visit from 2026 4-star WR Davion Brown.

Per several reports, Brown has scheduled several official visits. He is planning to officially visit the Orange from late May until early June, which is great to hear.

Brown is a standout at the Trinity Episcopal School in Richmond, Va. According to a post on his X page, in the recently completed 2024 season as a junior, he hauled in 42 receptions for 946 yards and 10 touchdowns while tallying 1,200 all-purpose yards.

When I wrote this article on Wednesday, within the 2026 class, both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking placed Brown in the top 160 overall, the top 30 at wide receiver and within the top six in Virginia.

Currently, his highest 2026 rankings come courtesy of ESPN, which has Brown at No. 38 nationwide, No. 6 at wide receiver and No. 2 in Virginia. Needless to say, if he were to ultimately commit to the 'Cuse, that would prove a massive addition to the team's 2026 class.

Speaking of that, the Orange staff has landed at least nine verbal pledges so far among high school juniors, including commitments from four-star offensive tackle Javeion Cooper and four-star edge Jarius Rodgers, both of whom are from Florida.

At the time of this writing, the Syracuse football 2026 cycle was No. 13 overall via the 247Sports Composite and No. 10 nationally on Rivals.com. Not too shabby.
