Syracuse football might be getting its next 2027 verbal commit soon.

Fresh off his official visit to the Orange this past weekend, the 'Cuse has analyst buzz for 2027 four-star wide receiver Chanin Harris out of James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C.

When I wrote this column on Wednesday afternoon, Syracuse football had at least two predictions in its direction for Harris between 247Sports and Rivals. One of these projections comes via top national analyst Chad Simmons, who is the director of recruiting at Rivals.

Heck yeah.

Late last month, word broke that the 6-foot-1, 175-pound Harris was down to a final four of the Orange, Wisconsin and a pair of additional Atlantic Coast Conference schools in Virginia and Virginia Tech.

Per recruiting services, Harris does have official visits set over the next several weeks to his other three finalists, although we'll have to see how all that shakes out if he does verbally pledge to Syracuse football in the near future.

Syracuse football is in great shape for 2027 4-star WR Chanin Harris.

In the 2025 season, per MaxPreps, Byrnes High School went 8-4 overall. Harris tallied 44 receptions for 648 yards with seven receiving touchdowns. He also had 168 kick-off return yards and 10 punt return yards.

From May 29 to May 31, the speedy wide receiver from South Carolina was one of more than a dozen high school prospects who officially visited the 'Cuse, as official visit season is underway, and Syracuse football has broken out the hibachi.

The Orange has recruited Harris hard for a bit now, and he first scored a scholarship offer from the 'Cuse in late April of this year. In various interviews, Harris has spoken highly of the relationship that he's building with Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown and wide receivers coach Josh Gattis.

Within the 2027 cycle, the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking places Harris at No. 501 overall, No. 70 at wide receiver and No. 11 in South Carolina. Most recruiting services have him as a three-star prospect, while ESPN rates Harris as four stars and No. 43 at wide receiver in this class.

At this juncture, Brown and his staff have landed 13 verbal commitments in their 2027 cycle, which is ranked No. 30 around the country via the 247Sports Web site.
