During his weekly press conference on Monday afternoon, Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown confirmed that he's made some relatively significant changes to his assistant staff as the Orange prepares to travel to No. 18 Miami this Saturday in week 11.
On Monday morning, footballscoop.com had a report that outlined some of these changes. For one, first-year wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Myles White is no longer with the 'Cuse program. Wishing Coach White all the best moving forward!
According to Brown, taking over as wide receivers coach will be Josh Gattis, who joined the Orange this past April as a quality control/offensive specialist. He won the annual Broyles Award in 2021 as the nation's top assistant coach while at Michigan.

Offensive associate head coach Nunzio Campanile has been moved from coaching the quarterbacks to coaching the tight ends. Meanwhile, co-offensive coordinator Michael Johnson will go from tight ends coach to quarterbacks coach. These changes are also noted under the Syracuse football staff directory on cuse.com.
Syracuse football (3-6 overall, 1-5 in the ACC) is mired in a five-game losing streak. The Orange's offense is mightily struggling, at quarterback, in the run game and on the offensive line. In the team's loss to North Carolina last Friday night at home, the 'Cuse completed just four passes for 39 yards, which is awful.
To be fair, though, the 'Cuse defense is also not playing well. Missed tackles. Poor pass coverage. Not getting pressure on opposing teams' quarterbacks or faring well in rushing defense.
Coming up, Syracuse football will travel to Miami and No. 10 Notre Dame, then the Orange will host Boston College in the 2025 regular-season finale. Brown said these staff changes were made for the program "to get the best out of our players" for the remaining trio of encounters.
As I noted in another recent column, a 2025 season that began with a lot of promise has completely imploded, and this goes way beyond bad quarterback play. Still, I know that Brown, his staff and their players will fight hard these final three games.
