The Fran Brown recruiting machine in the Sunshine State continues to hum along.

One of the latest developments is that the Syracuse football head coach and his top-flight staff have offered a scholarship to 2027 four-star safety and top-250 national prospect Jaylyn Jones from Florida. Jones disclosed his 'Cuse offer on Thursday via his X page.

The 6-foot, 182-pound Jones had a tremendous sophomore season during the 2024 campaign for McArthur High School in Hollywood, Fla. As a freshman, he suited up for Western High School in Davie, Fla.

Jones is verbally committed to fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Miami. He verbally pledged to the Hurricanes in late June of this year.

Syracuse football is making a run at 2027 four-star defensive back Jaylyn Jones.

In 2024, per a post on his X page, Jones tallied three interceptions, 14 pass breakups, 82 total tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble and one rumble recovery.

Since verbally committing to Miami, Jones has landed newer offers from Syracuse football, LSU and Oklahoma State. His full offer sheet also includes schools such as Michigan, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, Florida, Indiana, Missouri and Texas A&M, among many others.

Within the 2027 class, Jones' highest national ranking comes from 247Sports, at No. 230 overall. At the time of this writing, both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking placed him in the top 300 nationally, in the top 30 at safety and within the top 35 in talent-rich Florida.

Speaking of the Sunshine State, across the 2025, 2026 and 2027 recruiting cycles, the Orange staff has proven fabulous, led by Brown and general manager Tommy Caporale. Just in 2026, for example, one-fourth of the team's verbal pledges hail from Florida, include a five-star prospect and multiple four-star players.

One of the four 'Cuse verbal commits in 2027 is from the Sunshine State. Plus, in this class, Syracuse football coaches are heavily involved with elite Florida-based prospects such as five-star wide receiver/athlete Nick Lennear, who is teammates at Miami Northwestern Senior High School with 2026 five-star wide receiver Calvin Russell lll.

Russell, a top-25 national prospect, verbally committed to Syracuse football in early July. He's also expected to play for Syracuse basketball, I first reported over the summer. Lennear is eyeing a fall visit to several programs, including the Orange, Rivals analyst Marcus Benjamin has said on X.
