Syracuse football, back in the win column, albeit just barely, returns to Atlantic Coast Conference play and continues its recent road tour when the Orange travels to Virginia on Saturday night.

The 'Cuse (2-2 overall, 0-2 in ACC) escaped at UConn last weekend with a thrilling one-point overtime victory. Senior quarterback Amari Odom was named head coach Fran Brown's starting signal-caller against the Huskies, and while Odom made some mistakes, overall, he saved the day for the Orange.

Next up is a date with the Cavaliers (3-2 overall, 1-1 in ACC) in Charlottesville, Va. UVA put forth a lackluster effort this past Saturday, losing to Florida State on the road, 38-7. Virginia was terrific in the 2025 campaign, going 11-3 overall, winning its bowl game, reaching the ACC championship contest and finishing No. 16 in the final Associated Press top-25 poll.

This Saturday's ACC affair will mark the third straight road game for Syracuse football. After the 'Cuse plays at Virginia, the Orange will head home to the JMA Wireless Dome to battle Louisville on Saturday, Oct. 17, although SU then heads back out to face North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C., the following Saturday.

The Orange and the Cavaliers will go toe to toe on Saturday, Oct. 10, beginning at 7:30 pm EST from Scott Stadium. The game will air on the ACC Network. At the time of this writing, FanDuel had Virginia as a 9.5-point betting favorite, with the over/under set at 50.5 points.

Syracuse football and UVA have met six times in the past, with each team picking up three triumphs, according to SU Athletics. Their most recent matchup came in September 2022, when the Orange squeaked by Virginia in Central New York, 22-20.

Here is the projected depth chart for Syracuse football at UVA. For the second straight week, Odom is listed as the Orange's starting quarterback, followed by fifth-year player Steve Angeli and senior Malachi Nelson.

At his weekly press conference this past Monday, Brown said that more changes to the team's rotations could be in store at Virginia. "No one is safe in having a spot," he said. "You’ve got to go out and compete every day. That's the only way we’ll become the program that we want to be."
