Syracuse football has been noted as one of the suitors standing out to 2027 five-star wide receiver Nick Lennear, and the top-20 national prospect will be attending a different high school in Miami next season.
In recent days, word came out that the 6-foot, 165-pound Lennear would transfer from Miami Northwestern Senior High School to Miami Carol City Senior High School. The high schools are located about 10 miles from each other.
This past season, Miami Northwestern went 13-1 overall and reached the championship game of the Florida High School Athletic Association ("FHSAA") Class 3A state playoffs. Miami Carol City went 6-5 in the 2025 campaign, according to MaxPreps.
In the FHSAA Class 3A title contest earlier this month, Lennear caught six passes for 135 yards and one touchdown. Playing defensive back as well, he also had an interception. In 2025, Lennear played alongside Orange 2026 signee Calvin Russell III, a five-star wide receiver and a top-25 national prospect in the senior cycle, per 247Sports.
Syracuse football is one of the top schools for 2027 five-star WR Nick Lennear.
It's not clear to me if the Orange has officially offered a scholarship to Lennear, based on a review of recruiting Web sites. His full offer sheet includes schools such as Colorado, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, LSU, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Texas, Southern California, West Virginia, SMU and Florida International.

The Hurricanes, understandably, as a hometown college team, have analyst buzz in Lennear's recruitment on Rivals. Per analysts, other contenders to monitor for Lennear include the 'Cuse, Florida State and Oklahoma.

So far, the 'Cuse staff has eight verbal pledges in a 2027 class that is No. 6 nationally, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. The Orange, led by head coach Fran Brown and general manager Tommy Caporale, is faring quite well in recruiting the Sunshine State across multiple cycles.
In mid-December, 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins published an updated evaluation of Lennear. Ivins wrote in part that Lennear is "on pace to emerge as an offensive weapon for a College Football Playoff contender, but has also turned heads as a defensive back throughout prep career. ... Should be viewed as a true big-play threat with some inside-outside versatility that can flip the field with his deep speed and savvy route running."
