Elite Florida product A’mir Sears, who was offered by Syracuse football roughly 18 months ago, plans to make his commitment announcement this Friday, according to recruiting services.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Sears has been the No. 1 national prospect in the 2028 class. However, per reports, he is reclassifying into the 2027 cycle. The Orange has been mentioned as a potential contender for the five-star Sears in recent months, although this week, analysts have honed in on Miami as the favorite, with other possible suitors being LSU, Michigan and Texas A&M.

At the time of this writing, at least eight predictions were logged in Miami's direction for Sears between 247Sports and Rivals. Inside the Loud House checked in with a few sources this week, and while you never know how stuff will shake out in recruiting, the Orange is not expected to be Sears' choice on Friday, when he reveals his college decision at 5:00 pm EST on CBS Sports' college football YouTube channel.

The Syracuse football staff, under head coach and ace recruiter Fran Brown, first offered a scholarship to Sears on January 16, 2025. Within the 2027 class, both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking place Sears in the top 11 around the country.

In 2025, Sears was a standout at West Broward High School in Pembroke Pines, Fla. MaxPreps named him to its sophomore All-America first team on defense as an all-purpose player. Sears caught 42 passes for 942 yards and 11 touchdowns while also registering 61 total tackles, 11 pass breakups, three interceptions and a forced fumble.

For the upcoming 2026 season, Sears has transferred to Christopher Columbus High School in Miami. Last season, Columbus went 4-8 overall, according to MaxPreps.

Currently, the Orange has 24 verbal pledges in a 2027 class that is No. 39 nationally via 247Sports and No. 45 overall, per Rivals. At the beginning of July, Syracuse football scored a verbal commitment from four-star running back Elijah Kimble, a standout at Canisius High School in Buffalo, N.Y. Kimble is the highest-ranked pledge for the Orange in 2027.

Naturally, if SU coaches were somehow able to land Sears, that would prove massive for the program's 2027 class, but Inside the Loud House doesn't anticipate that will be happening on Friday.
