Four-star offensive tackle Omari Lawson is Syracuse football's first and only verbal commit in the 2028 class to date, and the Orange staff is going to have to hold off other suitors for a while, with the early signing period for his cycle not coming until December of next year.
Still, the 6-foot-6, 275-pound Lawson's pledge to the 'Cuse remains solid, Inside the Loud House is told. The Sunshine State product, who attends the Zarephath Academy in Jacksonville, Fla., will take game-day visits to in-state teams Florida State on August 29 and to Florida on September 26.
Zach Blostein of 247Sports first reported this news earlier on Sunday, and it was confirmed by Inside the Loud House. It's not a surprise that the Seminoles and the Gators continue to push for Lawson, as he's a top-150 national prospect and a top-20 offensive tackle in the high school junior class.
Last October, Lawson verbally committed to the 'Cuse. He has developed strong relationships with head coach Fran Brown and general manager Tommy Caporale. Plus, in recent recruiting cycles, the Syracuse football staff has recruited the state of Florida extremely hard, and with great success.

Lawson plans to take three game-day visits to the 'Cuse this fall, Inside the Loud House has learned. They are on September 5 against New Hampshire, October 17 against Louisville and November 7 against Clemson.
On Sunday, Inside the Loud House caught up with Lawson's head coach at Zarephath, Ivory Durham. This is what Durham had to say about the Orange 2028 verbal commit: "Omari Lawson is one of the hardest-working kids I have ever seen, both on and off the field. Within the 2028 class, the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking places Lawson at No. 116 overall, No. 12 at offensive tackle and No. 14 in Florida. Over at the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, he is No. 121 nationally, No. 15 at offensive tackle and No. 16 in Florida.
