On Wednesday, SU Athletics officially confirmed in a press release that Syracuse men's basketball will square off against Big Ten Conference member Indiana in the non-conference portion of the Orange's 2026-27 docket.
Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports first reported this match-up earlier this spring. Per SU, the 'Cuse will go toe to toe with the Hoosiers on Monday, Nov. 9, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis (the tip-off time and television information are to be determined).
Syracuse basketball and Indiana are two of the winningest Division I programs in the history of collegiate hoops, although both teams are looking to turn things around. First-year head coach Gerry McManara takes over an SU squad that hasn't made the NCAA Tournament since 2021.

The Hoosiers are led by second-year head coach Darian DeVries. Indiana went 18-14 overall a season ago, and the Hoosiers are looking for their first Big Dance appearance since 2023.
Syracuse basketball is heading to Indianapolis to duel with Indiana.
Ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, national observers appear to be relatively bullish on Indiana's prospects. While it's super early, prognosticators are viewing the Hoosiers as a preseason top-25 team and also a group that's likely to hear its name called on Selection Sunday for the 2027 March Madness.
Indiana's 2026-27 roster includes returnee Trent Sisley, a rising sophomore forward, and transfers such as Notre Dame guard Markus Burton, Duke guard Darren Harris, Villanova guard Bryce Lindsay, Georgia Tech guard Jaeden Mustaf, Alabama forward Aiden Sherrell and SMU center Samet Yigitoglu.
Lindsay, who hails from Baltimore, received interest from the Orange staff a few years back. Other former Syracuse basketball recruits who are on the Hoosiers' 2026-27 roster include 2026 four-star wing Vaughn Karvala from Wisconsin and 2026 four-star guard Prince-Alexander Moody from the DMV, both of whom had previously visited the 'Cuse.
In their all-time series together, Syracuse basketball is 6-1 against Indiana, but the Orange's setback to the Hoosiers stings a lot, as it came in the 1987 national championship game when Indiana prevailed by one point.
The last time these two programs met was in the 2021-22 season, when the 'Cuse knocked off the Hoosiers, 112-110 in double overtime, as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Syracuse basketball's non-conference schedule in 2026-27 is expected to feature games against Indiana, Rutgers in Brooklyn, N.Y., Providence in Boston, St. John's in Manhattan, N.Y., and a TBD opponent in the annual ACC/SEC Challenge, among others.
