Syracuse basketball is a slight betting underdog as the Orange travels to the Sunshine State on Tuesday evening to battle Miami.
When I wrote this article, FanDuel had the Hurricanes as a 1.5-point betting favorite, with the over/under set at 152.5 points. ESPN Analytics gives Miami a 56.1 percent chance to prevail in this Atlantic Coast Conference showdown.

I'm not much of a betting person, and I recognize that the 'Cuse is on the road in this affair, but I'm a little surprised that the Hurricanes are the betting favorite. Of course, that's why the games are played on the court, and I think Syracuse basketball has an excellent shot to defeat Miami at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Fla.
I had another column earlier on Tuesday about how to watch the Orange face the Hurricanes on the road. Click here for that story.
Odds-makers favor Miami in its home game versus Syracuse basketball.
With injured freshman power forward Donnie Freeman out for the rest of the 2024-25 season, the Orange's front-court will rely on players such as graduate student center Eddie Lampkin Jr., senior forward Jyare Davis, freshman forward Petar Majstorovic and senior center Naheem McLeod, who has gotten some increased minutes lately.
In several recent encounters, junior small forward Chris Bell has hit at a solid clip from beyond the arc, and the 'Cuse could use his 3-point shooting against the Hurricanes. Neither program is particularly stellar from deep, by the way.

Freshman shooting guard Elijah Moore has proven a regular in the starting line-up of late, although he hasn't been receiving a ton of run. When Syracuse basketball beat Boston College last Saturday in three overtimes at the JMA Wireless Dome, Moore had a good performance, and I'm hoping that will get him going offensively.
So far in 2024-25, within the ACC, the Orange is one of the better rebounding squads, while Miami struggles on the glass. The Hurricanes (5-18, 1-11 in the ACC) average about 32 rebounds per contest, as compared to 38 boards per game for the 'Cuse.
Lampkin, in particular, has put up some massive rebounding outputs in recent weeks. If Syracuse basketball (11-13, 5-8 in the ACC) can dominate on the glass, and that leads to second-chance points, this would prove huge for the Orange's chances to triumph for the third occasion on the road this term.
While the 'Cuse hasn't fared all that well to date in 2024-25 when playing on the road or at neutral sites, Miami enters this ACC affair having the conference's worst record. Syracuse basketball should be able to take care of business in the Sunshine State on Tuesday night.
