The 2028 contact period opened on June 15, allowing college coaches to initiate direct communication with rising high school juniors. The Syracuse basketball staff, under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara, is among the schools that have reached out to Gill, a top-100 national prospect in his class, since June 15.
According to his Instagram page, Gill's early scholarship offer sheet includes teams like Creighton, West Virginia, Nevada, Arizona State, the University of Detroit, Central Michigan, UC Santa Barbara and Eastern Michigan.
Syracuse basketball is in touch with 2028 three-star combo guard Ka'Shawn Gill.
Gill was a standout at the International Academy of Flint. In the 2025-26 season, though, he suited up for the Phoenix-based PHH Prep, which operates as the Diamond Doves in the Atlanta-based league Overtime Elite.
For the Diamond Doves in 2025-26, Gill played alongside 2026 guard Ethan Butler from New York City. Toward the beginning of June, the 6-foot-6 Butler committed to McNamara and the Orange for the upcoming 2026-27 stanza.
In 2025-26, Gill played in 12 games for the Diamond Doves. He averaged 14.1 minutes, 4.0 points and 1.1 rebounds per contest. In the current AAU season, Gill is competing for the Milwaukee-based Power 5 in the Adidas 3SSB league.
Eric Bossi, the national basketball director at 247Sports, wrote in the spring that Gill, while playing on the Adidas circuit, caught his attention. Bossi said in part that "Gill is a creative offensive player who can really put the ball on the floor, get to his spots and generate offense whenever he wants. He can be a bit inefficient at times and will benefit from better shot selection, but it's pretty obvious he has the talent to challenge for the national rankings."
Within the 2028 class, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite places Gill at No. 95 around the country, No. 17 at combo guard and No. 1 in Michigan. Let's see if the Syracuse basketball staff ultimately offers him a scholarship.
