Silas Demary Jr., a sophomore guard at Southeastern Conference member Georgia who is in the portal, appears to be a highly sought-after transfer, with Syracuse basketball reportedly having some level of interest in him.

The 6-foot-5 Demary, who is from Raleigh, N.C., was a key player for the Bulldogs during the 2024-25 campaign, when Georgia went 20-13 overall and made this spring's NCAA Tournament.

As a sophomore, per ESPN statistics, he averaged 31.5 minutes, 13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals per contest, while Demary connected on 39.6 percent from the field, 37.4 percent from beyond the arc and 80.4 percent from the free-throw line.

According to a post on X from the account GREENLIGHT MEDIA, since entering the transfer portal, Demary has heard from a bunch of high-major programs, including the Orange and several other Atlantic Coast Conference squads.

The current transfer portal window in men's hoops officially opened on March 24 and will run through April 22.

Syracuse basketball, per reports, has reached out to numerous college transfers.

As a member of the 2023 recruiting class, Demary joined the Georgia program after spending his senior season at the Combine Academy in Lincolnton, N.C., near Charlotte. While a prep recruit, he was rated as high as No. 44 nationally in his cycle by On3, along with being the No. 9 point guard.

When I wrote this piece, in its national transfer rankings, 247Sports placed Demary as four stars, No. 10 overall and No. 3 at combo guard.

This off-season will prove a busy one for the 'Cuse coaching staff. The Orange had 12 scholarship players in 2024-25, with five exhausting their college eligibility. At least four guys on this past season's roster have hit the portal.

Key returnees are expected to include junior guard J.J. Starling and freshman power forward Donnie Freeman. The team has a four-member 2025 class at the high school level. A few days ago, Syracuse basketball received a commitment from UCLA junior power forward/center William Kyle lll.

Per reports and recruiting analysts, other college transfers who have heard from the Orange include Arkansas State junior guard Derrian Ford, Clemson freshman guard Del Jones, Robert Morris junior guard/forward Amarion Dickerson, North Dakota junior guard Treysen Eaglestaff, North Dakota State senior guard Jacari White and Drexel junior guard Kobe Magee.
