Syracuse basketball head coach Gerry McNamara and his staff will be mining the transfer portal for a variety of players.

The back-court, specifically point guard, should be a big focus for Orange coaches via the portal, given SU's 2025-26 players who have either exhausted their eligibility or have entered the transfer portal, including senior shooting guard J.J. Starling and junior point guard Naithan George.

Two transfer guards, both of whom are rated four stars by at least one recruiting service, that Syracuse basketball fans should monitor are Georgia sophomore Jeremiah Wilkinson and McNeese State junior Garwey Dual, according to media reports and national recruiting analysts.

Let's learn a bit more about these two transfer guards.

Jeremiah Wilkinson
The 6-foot-1 Wilkinson, from Powder Springs, Ga., previously suited up for fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school California before heading to the Bulldogs. In 2025-26, Georgia went 22-11 overall and reached this spring's NCAA Tournament. Wilkinson averaged 17.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 steals per game while making 41.0 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from beyond the arc and 78.6 percent from the free-throw line. In national transfer rankings from 247Sports, he checks in as four stars, No. 22 overall and No. 4 at combo guard. One other tidbit: Per reports, Wilkinson is represented by former Syracuse basketball star point guard Michael Carter-Williams and his agency, SOL Sports Group.

Garwey Dual
The 6-foot-5 Dual, who hails from Houston, previously played at Seton Hall and Providence before transferring to McNeese State, which went 28-6 overall this past term and made the 2026 Big Dance. As a junior, Dual averaged 8.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game while connecting on 45.6 percent from the field, 31.6 percent from 3-point range and 76.4 percent from the charity stripe. In national transfer ratings from the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, he is four stars, No. 58 nationally and No. 6 at combo guard.

In the early stages of this offseason, the Orange has secured commitments from Siena sophomore guard Gavin Doty, a four-star transfer prospect, and Slovenian wing Mark Morano Mahmutovic, a four-star player in the 2026 class.
