Syracuse basketball four-star and five-star recruiting targets shined this past weekend on Nike's EYBL circuit amid an NCAA-permitted live period, with Orange coaches watching prospects in the EYBL and other shoe-sponsored leagues.
The scouting experts at The Circuit have dished out their awards for the top performances on the EYBL circuit last weekend, when the Nike league was in Memphis, Tenn. Numerous high school players who have either 'Cuse scholarship offers or interest from the program were among those praised by The Circuit for their efforts in Memphis within the main 17U division.
Let's start with one of the top targets for Syracuse basketball in the 2026 class, five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr. of the Washington, D.C.-based Team Takeover. He averaged 17.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game, landing on the All-EYBL first team.
Also on the first team are 2026 four-star point guard Anthony Brown Jr. of the Oxon Hill, Md.-based Team Durant and 2026 five-star point guard Dylan Mingo of the the Bronx, N.Y.-based PSA Cardinals. Both averaged more than 20 points per encounter in Memphis.
Other Syracuse basketball targets were lauded for their EYBL performances.
The Circuit also honored 2027 five-star power forward/center Paul Osaruyi of the Phoenix-based Arizona Unity, 2026 four-star guard Lucas Morillo of the Albany, N.Y.-based City Rocks, 2026 four-star wing Jasiah Jervis of the New York City-based Renaissance Hoops, 2026 five-star wing Qayden Samuels of Team Takeover, 2027 five-star forward Baba Oladotun of Team Durant and 2026 four-star small forward Vaughn Karvala of the Milwaukee-based Team Herro.
Osaruyi was named the defensive MVP, he resides on the All-EYBL second team, and Osaruyi was also put on the All-Underclass team and the All-Defensive squad. Morillo is the breakout MVP and was named to the All-EYBL second team.
Also on the second unit are Jervis and Samuels. Oladotun is on the All-Underclass team. Karvala was named to the All-Defensive team, and he receive an honorable mention nod for the All-EYBL teams.
The EYBL will hold a third spring session this coming weekend, from May 23 to May 26, in both Kansas City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo.
The league's annual season-ending tournament, the prestigious Peach Jam, will occur this July in North Augusta, S.C. Two summers ago, in July of 2023, Syracuse basketball rising sophomore power forward Donnie Freeman won the 17U Peach Jam with Team Takeover.
