Not all news from Syracuse's 34-21 win over Clemson was good news. The Orange's dominant road performance against a preseason top-5 team was overshadowed by quarterback Steve Angeli going down with a leg injury.
It happened when Angeli was scrambling, and he went down without any contract. Angeli, who led the nation in passing coming into Saturday, was helped off the field and eventually placed on crutches.

Angeli is now on the sidelines with crutches.
Angeli has been crushing it all season and has the most passing yards in college football.
Prayers for Steve Angeli. 🙏🏻

Fran Brown: Angeli is still our leader
After the game, coach Fran Brown did not have any further update on Angeli's status other than to say he might not be available for a couple of weeks. However, that might just be wishful thinking.
"I thought Steve was amazing, it seems like he won't be here for a couple of weeks. I love Steve. I'm so thankful for everything that Steve has done. He will always be the leader of our football team," Brown said. "We've just got to support and rally behind him to make sure he's straight. I can't talk too much about it because I'm not 100% sure yet."
Cameras caught Brown consoling Angeli after the game and the coach went on to embrace his quarterback after a brief conversation.

"That was personal, when I was talking to him over there. I don't want to share that. That was personal," Brown added. "I told him I love him though...made sure he knew that, and to make sure that he knew that we'll be with him, and we're going to stick with him all the way through. That's what family does, right?"
Rickie Collins, who competed with Angeli for the starting quarterback spot during the spring and summer, echoed Brown's comments about family and said that he looked at Angeli like a brother.

"That's hard, seeing a brother, not just a teammate to me. I mean we've built bonds on this team. That's a brother to me now," Collins said. "So seeing that, it sucked, I was hurting for him. But I had to snap out of it and go finish the game for him."
