Dawayne Galloway Jr., a top-100 overall player in the 2025 class, is high on Syracuse football after taking an unofficial visit to the ‘Cuse last Saturday.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Galloway is a consensus top-200 national prospect and a four-star cornerback/athlete who stars for Marion-Franklin High School in Columbus, Ohio.
He was one of numerous highly rated targets on the Orange campus this past weekend, and Galloway was in attendance for the Syracuse basketball win over N.C. State on Saturday night, when ‘Cuse legend Dave Bing got inducted into the SU Athletics Ring of Honor.
As far as watching the Syracuse basketball victory at the JMA Wireless Dome, Galloway told SyracuseOnSI publisher Mike McAllister, “It was pretty legit. We had fun and it was electric.”
Dawayne Galloway Jr. has a close relationship with Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown.
Throughout his recruitment, Galloway has picked up scholarship offers from more than 20 college squads, according to recruiting services.
They include the Orange, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas A&M, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Colorado and Illinois, among others.
Brown, who officially took over as the ‘Cuse head coach in early December, most recently served as the defensive backs coach at Georgia.
McAllister reports that Brown and Galloway further strengthened their relationship when the 2025 recruit was on the SU campus, and Galloway also got to spend time with other Syracuse football coaches.
“We were just talking about life and Syracuse and family,” Galloway said. “Catching up and talking about the future. It felt real good.”
Galloway is an elite player in the junior class. Both industry-generated rating systems, the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Industry Ranking, place him around the top 100 across the country.
Currently, ESPN is the most bullish on Galloway, ranking him at No. 80 nationally, No. 10 at cornerback and No. 2 in Ohio within his cycle.
Following his visit to Central New York, Galloway told McAllister that Syracuse football is in his top five.
The ‘Cuse coaching staff landed its first verbal commitment in the 2025 class last Saturday evening, as four-star edge and top-300 national prospect Sharlandiin Strange picked the Orange over other finalists Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Southern California.
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Strange is a standout junior at Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, Pa.
