This weekend, Syracuse football will host talented defensive lineman Will Norman on an official visit, he said via his X page.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Norman is a freshman at Southeastern Conference school Florida. Per 247Sports, on December 7, he entered the NCAA’s transfer portal.

Norman, who hails from New Jersey, where the new Syracuse football coaching staff has extensive recruiting ties, was offered a scholarship by the Orange in September of 2022, according to his bio on the 247Sports Web site.

As a member of the 2023 recruiting cycle, Norman was a consensus four-star prospect and rated inside the top 300 nationally by the majority of recruiting Web sites.

Per his bio on the Florida athletics department Web site, in the 2023 season, he played in four games and redshirted.

Syracuse football will soon welcome Florida DL transfer Will Norman on an official visit.

Norman played at Eastside High School in Camden, N.J. It’s important to note that new ‘Cuse head coach Fran Brown and new defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson, who are long-time friends, both grew up together in Camden.

Additionally, Brown and Robinson are deemed by national analysts as two of the top recruiters in the sport of college football, and they’re particularly strong on the recruiting front in the state of New Jersey and throughout the Northeast region, experts say.

In high school, according to recruiting Web sites, Norman landed more than two dozen offers. Beyond Syracuse football and the Gators, his offer sheet included schools such as Arizona State, Auburn, Boston College, Cincinnati, UConn, Florida State, Kentucky, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCF, Virginia and West Virginia, among others.

All of the main recruiting Web sites, within the 2023 class, rated Norman as four stars.

His highest ranking, as far as I can tell, came via Rivals.com, which placed Norman at No. 91 across the country, No. 8 at defensive tackle and No. 2 in New Jersey.

The industry-generated 247Sports Composite had him at No. 195 nationally, No. 23 at defensive lineman and No. 2 in New Jersey.

Over at the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, Norman checked in at No. 211 overall, No. 25 at defensive lineman and No. 2 in New Jersey.

On Tuesday, Brown and his staff scored their first commitment out of the portal, as Jackson Meeks said on social media that he would transfer to the ‘Cuse.

Meeks is a junior wide receiver at SEC squad Georgia, and he will have one year of eligibility remaining on the Hill.
